Think it's a bit naff, to be honest. Full of plot holes, clichés, poor dialogue, and the story moves around in circles. Which would be absolutely fine, if it was a cartoony romp like X-Men or Spiderman, but it's deluded itself into thinking it's something more, and as a result is full of tedious pretentious bile. Sylar is a sexy beast, though. |

Heroes is by far my favourite tv show. I got series 1 + 2 for Christmas and have almost finished the first series again. The third series was awesome and I can't wait for volume 4 to start (although I think it's sometime in mid-february over here in the UK which sucks). I think their character development is brilliant, you can really connect with them. The way characters can sway from good to evil or vice-versa. I also love when they go to the future as well. However, I do admit there are plot-holes. I found one whilst I've been re-watching the first series. It's the only one I know of though, so I wouldn't say it's filled with them. Also, I don't get what you mean by it moves in circles? In what way? |

Pretty much every way. For characters, look no further than Sylar. They spent most of season three developing him into an anti hero, which was great, but then they went back on all that for no good reason, and after all that time we ended up with exactly the same character. Don't get me wrong, I did like psycho Sylar back in season 1, but after watching him develop into something new and interesting, then having it all taken away was just *****. Then there's the plot. Nothing was gained over season 3 at all. The formula gets destroyed, Peter gets his powers back, Arthur dies and Sylar goes back to being a loon. It's come full circle and completely wasted our time, I'm honestly amazed that so few people I've talked to about it seemed to have noticed that. |

That's volume four. Volume 3 went full circle and nothing was gained, and the only thing lost was valuable time in which I could be doing something more fun. Only reason I'm sticking with volume 4 is because I write about it. |

I read that volume four is starting at the beginning of February in the US, and we got volume 3 a few weeks after it started in America, so I'm just assuming it's gonna be the same for volume 4. As for tomdoodle's points. I don't think Sylar's swaying to the good side and then back again was for no reason. It allows us to see the complexity of his character, how he is confused as to what he is. If you really want to look into it, it's the way he has been treated which messed him about. Angella lying to him about who his real parents were and telling him he could be good. We see in the future that he learns to control the 'hunger' (which is basically what makes him evil) that comes with his ability, although the future is never written in stone where Heroes is concerned. And I don't think it's right to say nothing was gained from volume 3. A lot of character development, a lot of preverbial knots untied and it set up the volume 4 storyline very nicely. |

The transition from psycho to anti hero did highlight the complexity, the confusion, the parent issues and whatnot, and that was good. But swaying right back into psycho was anything but, he made the decision in half a second. Not because he was confused about who he was, not because of parent issues, certainly not because he was complex. He did it because he couldn't be bothered any more.
Every proverbial knot that was untied was a knot from either the beginning of volume 3 or the end of volume 2. As for character development - who exactly? The only actual developments (Sylar and Peter don't count because every aspect of their development over the course of the season was reversed anyway) were Claire and Peter somehow learning to handle massive fire arms, and Hiro losing powers and Ando gaining his. Nathan doesn't count either, because he's (predictably) gone back to the two faced politician he was in season one. But even then in combination with Daphne, Ando has Hiro's power, and since those three are usually kept together (with Matt tagging along struggling to suppress his massive erection for a woman half his size and age) we've still got the same effect. Nathan doesn't count either, because he's just gone back to the two faced politician he was in season one. And of course it set up the volume 4 storyline nicely, because they've just given it a clean slate to work with. It's mind boggling how people can't see any of this stuff. I can understand liking Heroes because it's entertaining, although I'm far too cynical to get anything out of it half the time anyway - not because I don't like the premise, because it takes itself to seriously - but being completely oblivious to how it constantly goes back on itself is just daft, when you don't even have to look hard and see that they're just dragging it out for the cash. |

Well I can see I won't be able to win this argument as you've already made up your mind :P However, you mentioned threecharacters that develop and said they don't count (Peter, Nathan and Sylar). Hiro and Ando's relationship developed with Hiro believing Ando would turn against him, Ando gaining powers and Hiro losing his. There was also the introduction of new characters as well e.g. Daphne, some of the villains (can't remember their names) and Arthur, who may not even be dead as he took Adam Monroe's healing ability. |

I was looking at some of the bonus features on my boxset last night and there was a thing on there about what Season 2 would have been if the Writer's Guild hadn't striked. Basically instead of Peter catching the vial with the Shanti virus in, it drops and gets out. They only told you what they were going to do for episodes 12/13/14 and showed you some of the footage they'd filmed. It's really interesting and would have made Season 2 much better. However, Season 3 would have been quite different I imagine and I loved it so not too bummed out about us not getting the Season 2 they wanted. |

Volume 4 started in America the othe day. I being as impatient as I am watched it onine :P as I' not sure when it's back i England. I'll watch it again when it comes back here though. It was a pretty good episode, looks like the new volume could be a good one. I won't speak about the storyline too much. I'll just say how I like how they brought together a lot of the Heroes. |
