BLACKSBURG, Va. - Local, state and federal investigators scoured a university campus in Virginia for clues to what set off the deadliest mass shooting in U.S. history after a gunman shot two people to death in a dormitory Monday morning before making his way to a classroom building where, silently and coolly, he killed 30 more people before turning his weapon on himself, authorities said.

At least 15 other people were wounded in the shootings, which took place over 2½ hours at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. Some of them were injured as they leapt to safety from the windows of their classrooms.

The shootings, which came just four days before the eighth anniversary of the Columbine High School bloodbath, in which two students killed 13 people and themselves near Littleton, Colo., created panic and confusion at the university, which was already on edge after two weeks of bomb threats.

After the scope of the carnage was clear, angry students and employees demanded to know why the first e-mail warning from police and administrators did not go out to them for more than two hours, even though the killer of two people was at large. By then, the gunman had struck a second time....

I think the shootings were justified. I think it would be pretty funny to see the people being shot and falling down crying and bleeding as their lives are extinguished, ROFL! Those people got OWNED!

This isn't really a debate, that's why nobody would say the above ^^^.

But, do we need to do more to stop this stuff?

This is NOT the worst school shooting, it is the second school biggest massacre.

The Bath School Massacre was in 1926 and around 50 people died, a man who was *****ed off due to taxes blew up parts of the building and killed many 2nd to 6th grader children.

It's sad what people do.

It really is sad. My question is, how many times do things like this have to happen before people decide to do something to prevent the same thing from happening again just at another location? I mean, if they knew there was a shooter on the loose after the first two people were shot and killed, wouldn't it be a smart thing to do to cancel classes? If I were a student there and I was left in the dark until something even worse happened I would have been ticked off and if I lived through it would more than likely transfer to another school.

They really need to change the gun policy here in the United States. Now a days, it's too easy walk into a store and pick up a gun for $500. And for all we know, that person who purchased the gun could go on a killing spree 5 minutes later.

In more recent news...

Evidently, the guy dropped off a package after the first killing (the one at like 7:20 AM), then 10 minutes later went off again on the second. People are upset and are blaming the school because the school didn't bother to lock down and secure the campus. It's evident that they didn't because they allowed the KILLER to walk off campus and back on campus 2 hours later. Totally pathetic.

It is pathetic, that's is right. But it is also pathetic to only blame the school. What we have here is a social problem.

I don't want to talk about a general subject, as this has to be considered as something special. But what I want to say is that killing people like that is always an act of despair, despair because of social problems and the lack of equal opportunities and chances for everbody. It is a fact that ethnic minorities do have less chances than native americans, simply because of the gap between rich and poor. People who are part of an ethnic minority are mostly relatively poor, which is a reason for despair.

Of course, this cruel act of a crime could have been commited by a native american, too. I don't want to be misunderstood here.

And as far as I am concerned, the killer was a korean guy, which underlines my statement.

Proof me if I am wrong.

That's such a false stereotype. Just because you're native to the United States (or background isn't American) doesn't mean you're poor. I know many rich Asian, Indian, South American, Canadian, Italian, and French people. It couldn't be because he's poor, but maybe because he has problems in his life that were never sorted out, and he figured there was no point in living anymore.

i had a dream about this the night it happened but i didnt
know anything about it i was like woah, but i always haave
dreams like that :/

it was a well thought out plan
and succed. im not saying i wanted it to
but he killed who he wanted and then
killed himself which was part of his plan,
its stupid and pointless and a waste
of human life as BBQ said

+ he did have mental problems
thats proberbly the main reason for this
i meen i think it was something to do with
them being rihc or succesful or something
but if he wasnt mental he proberbly wouldnt
of even thought about them like that let alone
killing them

I thought it was really ironic how the shooter said in his video that these people "have never felt pain like he has", when one of the people he shot was a Holocaust survivor. Really pathetic.

(Sorry if I am necroposting; not quite sure on the policy here)
