Why do we get so sentamentally attatached to our pets. Wether they be dogs, cats, mice, fish or heck even sheep if you have a sheep pet.

After thinking about it a bit I thought that it is because animals are always there for you. They never judge you for things you've done and they love unconditionally.

What are your views on this matter?

I agree.....my cat died recently, and he had been part of our family for almost 17 years. He was old sure......but i watched him grow up. My family has always been really "rocky" at best, but he was kinda the one thing I could rely on.

When he died (conjunctivitis), i wasnt upset, or even sad for weeks. It look a long time to hit me that he was gone.

Ultimately, yeah, i get what you're saying.......you know that they arent sentient, and that they are going to die before you.....but that doesnt make it easier somehow.

Somehow, animals are one's best friend. The do not critzcize you, the do not annoy you most of the time and they are faithfull.

Sometimes, they seem to be better friends than human beings, because they are always there and they are able to build up trust much faster than a human being could ever do.

Another aspect would be the evolution. Some animals are part of the human culture since the human being came into existance, the wolf/dog is the best example. The human race is used to having pets, which is a reason why they build up such intense feelings.

Yeah.
For instance. I have 2 border collies. One mine and the other my sisters.
When I get home from school he is at the door waiting for me. And plus He was also born the same day as me. Which I think is some sorta sign...
No joke

I suppose it gives us somthing to share ourselfs with, such as pets, people like to come home to see them there, most definatly after a bad day I feel. Some people will have them to help them relax and something to talk to. Though, objects are diffrent, usually it'll be because someone you love or like gave it to you and say they left someplace, you'll have a stronger feeling with that object because it reminds you of the person you miss.

Pets die all thet time, get over it.
They are just animals, enjoy them while they last.

Don't get too attached to anything because nothing lasts forever.

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

Indeed, I have a dog named Otis who sleeps next to me on my bed at night. He can be a little annoying to move, but hes a small dog. I also cried a lot when my cat, Comet, died of a bladder thing and we had to put him down. But, I was only 8 or 9 then. I guess it's because dogs can't process that you are acting geeky, or they can't not like you because you are ugly or anything like that. Merely how you act, in fact, if people were more like animals when it comes to judging people on liking them, then the world would be a hugely better place.

I think people tend to forget that animals are more "human" than we think. They can be sad, angry, tired, etc. When you kick an animal, it feels pain. When you throw a ball or move a mouse around, they love to play. If one yells at them, they feel sad. They have emotions too.

I have a dog and three cockateils. I know if I lost any of them I would cry for days. Why is that? Well because pets are part of the family too. They are someone you can rely on when you are having a bad day and they are always loyal.

Unlike humans, they don't judge you. For example, bring some dogs into prison. They won't avoid those who murdered people, instead, they will greet them with the same kindness as they do to people who are innocent.

Besides, animals are soooo cuuuuuute! Especially when they are puppies, kittens, etc. How can you resist that??

Because it's a life, it it has feelings like our own, struggles like our own. And yet they stand by us as we stand by them, that companionship turns to love and so we become attached.
