it's worth if it's not for something like school, college, uni,....ect
if it's just for yourself then go to wiki if not go to library

I've used it for college, I used it for my physics work too, there's nothing wrong with it, my marks are good enough on those pecies of work and no innaccurate information.

If it's such a poor source, why will some of my lecturers recommend using it?

Its a good source, i agree with the previous post every time a school project came around wiki was always there 8) . But at the same time its not always reliable since people are able to edit articles and such. Its always good to double check the info you're getting no hwere you look on the net. I still luv wiki thou
