The thread where we discuss my personal favorite character, Goku. When I think of Goku, I often compare him to my favortie comic book hero, Superman. Why? Because their stories are very similar. They are both from worlds which were destoryed in one way or another, Goku is one of the last of his kind, they both ended up protecting the Earth, and they both stand for justice. So, in this sense, Goku could be considered the Japanese version of Superman, minus the cape. lol |

Yes there are deffinately parallels that can be drawn between the 2. Just a few cultural differences. The American super heroes all have alter-egos, where as very few of the japanese ones do. Im not sure what that symbolises, because im tired.... Rest assured if i were in "essay writing mode" i could string out 2000 words as to why thats important. |

What can I say? He's the main character of the story. He's a great fighter with a free caring attitude. Personaly, I wish someone else was the main character, but its not about what I believe. Do I like him? Well I guess. Although he can be quite annoting at times. Goku is Goku. I'll just say that. |

Goku isn't overrated or underrated, thats what I liked about him, he does his job, comes back, kicks *****, gets his ***** kicked, gets hospitalized in one way or another, his friends get their asses kicked, usually Kuririn or Gohan or somebody else very close to him yet weak but lucky enough not to be killed in 5 minutes, comes back, scares the crap out of them, feeds them senzu, and repeat. |

erm.....wha?:/ So we're saying that Goku has no personality? I think hes chocked full of it.......too much maybe. His overall goodness has turned loads of bad guys into good guys. He never unjustly kills anyone in any of the episodes or movies. What about that whole thing with gohan during the cell games? Fighting first so gohan can see Cells techniques...then giving cell a senzu bean so he has the means to anger gohan. Come on.....the first time any of us read/watched the cell games saga.....NONE of us had a clue how Cell would be beaten. Those tactics were genius. Also dont people with no personality tend to be social rejects, who sit in a corner and never talk? Goku never shuts up, and is never shown to be anti social. Even with old enemies like Mercenary Tao. Is this too not an interesting personality trait? |

I can't say I really like Goku that much, seems alittle overrated and somewhat greedy when it comes to food, although he can be usfull throughout the series and all, he does seem alittle, stupid most of the time. Maybe I'm just not really into a comical action hero. |

I loved Goku, he is so awesome! He is one of those heroes that will last through ages. He has a heart of a lion and a fist of steel. The thing about him, is he can be whatever he wants. He can be funny, serious, loving, etc. He is simply, the best. |

How is goku stupid? And how can you be greedy with FOOD? You eat until you're full. It just so happens that it takes a LOT to fill him up.

Goku, he was a really cool character. I like his line to Frieza when he turned SSJ for the first time. Yeh same, I wished he didn't ALWAYS come to the rescue. But hey, that's how it is. |
