Combat is Timedbased like FFVII apart from you can run about at the same time.

Leveling system is the same gain EXP and level up, but you also earn LP (Licence Points) This is like the Spear grid on FFX but less messyier and works well, but its also a pain, cos you cant use a Long Sword unless you have the licence for it.

Other than that Combat and leveling system is great

I personally didnt rate the sphere grid system.....Even on the advanced setting, it was way too linear. Plus in order to level up each character to the fullest, you have to work out how many extra spheres you have to place down.

Call me old fashioned, but 7, 8, and 9 all had pretty sweet leveling up systems.

I wasnt a huge fan of the junction system on 8....but it still beat the sphere grid.

But my god...i hated the dress spheres on X2. Changing dresses to change powers? give me a break.
