Pope Condemns Video Games

Alright the Pope ain't a stupid old fart. I understand why he wants to condemn violent videogames and such. But I don't think he would go after DBZ. 'Cause they are actually heroes that are fighting for a reason you know? Not like say... those other games that say "Kill as many people as you can in 5 minutes". The Z Fighters (besides Vegeta) practically fight for justice and all. But if he is directing this to DBZ then I have no comment on this debate.

The Pope isn't the only one who thinks video games are repulsive. Many of the baby boomer generation believes this. They didn't grow up with video games, so they don't understand the point of them. If you were a parent from that decade, you would understand why they think so. I mean you grow up watching black and white t.v, to now watching kids shoot down cops. It's hard for them to understand.

It takes a mere second for treasure to turn to trash.

*backflips over Tray Killo and Lazy Ninja Shikamaru and has a gun as the Pope puts his hands up crying as I shoot him down in slow mo as his blood sprays across the ground and he falls dead*

Muah hah hahahahaha! Video games told me to do it! *drops the gun and runs away*

The fact is.....no ammount of violent video game playing, or violent movie watching, can make a person violent.

A person who plays violent games, and gets violent instincts themselves is already mentally unwell and in need of help. 99.999999% of people can play violent games and enjoy them, not affected....why take them away, just because 0.000001% of people are already mental.

Censorship really annoys me.....why undermine the creative processes just because a tiny, tiny, tiny percentage of the population react badly to it.

Why arent there more people out there, shooting cops just because they played it on a game.....

....because it takes more than a game just to make people crazy enough to shoot cops.

Bottom line: Yes there are mental people out there, who will immitate what they do in computer games. But they must already have some mental issues anyway, since the high majority of the population can play these games and not be affected.

Lets NOT blame the computer games....its like blaming guns for world war 2.

I don't think violence should be put on Video games, but overweight issues should be. Some people play video games all day and never get out of the house, but I guess that isn't the issue here. Just like I said before, if you had come from the 1950's generation you wouldn't understand the point of video games. Try to put it into perspective.

Why should'nt you have violence in games?. More violent the game is the higher the age group is so it's suitable for them people, if this is the case you should stop making violent movies and keep making disney movies.

I think she meant violence shouldn't be "blamed" on games.

I say let him have his opinions so I can ignore them. ;) I find nothing wrong with video games and shows like DBZ as long as its reality is not back into the real world by the viewer/gamer. This means that as long as video games and cartoons remain fantasy and don't become reality, then there's nothing wrong with them.

Sorry Hotprichichi, i disagree. Computer games cant be blamed for overweight kids.....the parents and the kids themselves can be blamed.

When i was growing up, i played LOADS of computer games; but i also played lots of sports.

People are very quick to "blame" things for their problems, and very hesitant to address the real problems.

Neither Computer games, Tv, Junk Food or Candy can be blamed for overweight kids.

Its like accidently cutting yourself and blaming the knife.

Message to all the overweight kids out there: Stop blaming other things for how you are, and put down the friggin fork.

You can't really blame games for most things, behaviour comes from enviromental factors as do eating problems and such. The only thing a game /might/ cause are sleep problems when kids stay up all night playing them, but then, that's the perants fault for letting them, not the games fault.

When it all comes down to it, it's the perent who lets the kids do these things, without guidence, kids will do pritty much what they like. And as for adults, if they want to stay up and play or whatever with games, that's there chioce, they are old enough to be independent, if they ruin there life, that's there fault, not a games fault.

You can pin the blame on an object because most don't have that much infulance on a person. Like if I shot someone, I couldn't just blame the gun and go home free, LOL! Since it;s my fault, not the guns.

I agree with BBQ. I think the main factor of a danger related to video games is ones social status and your social life. Without friends, you can't talk about specific subjects going through your head, but the most important thing is that you can't talk about problems, sorrows and so on.

All that sums up after a while, and is set free by brutal murders and so on.

This happens to often nowadays, which shows us that our society goes down quickly. This is really depressing and i hope for all of you that there are people you can talk to, people who give you that important feeling of security and the feeling of being loved.
