Just cause Gokus dead doesn't mean Vegeta is like "Oh screw it, i'm not going to fight and train anymore". What are you indicating, Vegeta is a wuss?

I think he was just implying that beating goku was his one true ambition. That still dosn't constitute that he would stop trainging and becoming more powerful. He trained b/c one way or another he would meet Goku or someone stronger oneday and he had to be ready for it.

Like Rebel X said, he would still train for that one day that they would meet. But as has been stated before, Vegeta's mind was not calm enough to reach the SSJ3 state. I don't think it had anything to do with his lack of ability, lack of training or his endurance.

Vegeta was shown training intensely during the early chapters of the Buu saga (even before he knew Goku was coming back) and, according to Bulma, he was even trying to make Trunks stronger than Gohan. I can see where you might assume that though, since Vegeta said he'd "never fight again" when Goku died, but I guess Toriyama scrapped that idea when his fans pushed him to write to Buu saga.
