For years, there has been ONE scene in DBZ that has always confused me. I've watched it time and time again and can't figure it out. It's in the Android Saga, when 19 is absorbing Goku's energy. Piccolo tells the Z-Fighters to move in, and they are then blocked by 20. Piccolo makes an attempt to knock 20 out of the way, but is shot through the chest by two tiny beam. Both of which come out of 20's eyes (if you pause it, you see them both come out). Then, after Vegeta comes and knocks 19 off of Goku, and Gohan says who it is, Piccolo gets up and says "That's who it was?" and continues by explaining that "The Android did get a shot in...but only after Vegeta interferred!" What does that mean? Does it mean Vegeta shot Piccolo through the chest, or does it mean that both the Android AND Vegeta shot him through the chest? I'm lost here. Help would be nice. Thanks.

Yeah that has always bothered me too..... I always assumed that Vegeta knocked him out the way, but at the very last second. Kinda like with the after-image technique....i think it only looked as though the beams went through Picollo. Its not very satisfying, but it does make sense.....Picollo did appear to be unharmed afterwards. |

Perhaps the Manga dialog will help? Son Gohan: "Vegeta!!" Piccolo: "What? Vegeta?! Just when I had distracted them from Goku with my "defeat"... ...Blasted Vegeta just has to butt in..." |

@ Tyro: So, does that mean that Piccolo only pretended to get shot down in order to distract the Androids, when Vegeta then kicks 19 in the face? |

What happened was that vegeta got in the way. Either my moving through directly in between Gero and piccolo, or by moving so fast that piccolo sensed his kii.... I don't think piccolo getting blasted would distract 19 fro absorbing goku's energy. |

*Piccolo tries to attack Gero.* *Gets shot and falls down.* *Suddenly Vegeta flies in and kicks #19 in the face.* Vegeta never got inbetween Piccolo and Dr. Gero. So I'm just guessing it was an anime screw up.
Yes Piccolo pretended to be hurt to distract the Cyborgs/Androids. No, Vegeta didn't do anything besides kick #19 in the face. |

Not a screw up, but a simple modification. Another example : When freiza got out of the water just after he had been hit with the spirit bomb he shot at piccolo in the manga. In the anime he shot at goku, but piccolo jumped in the way. |

But the quotes DEMONHUNTER posted infer that Piccolo was shot after Vegeta kicked #19 in the head. But that's not true at all. |

Ah, I was wrong about the timing but my point is still the same. Piccolo said he was shot only after Vegeta attacked #20. Not true. |

This is quite confusing so what you are saying is Piccolo got shot by Vegeta but it wasn't harmful? |

It's not right the Anime is wrong Piccolo got himself shot and pretended to be down so he could surprise the Android and get him, Vegeta kicked 19 in the face thus ruining it. Vegeta did nothing to Piccolo. |

I'm pretty sure that because Vegeta has been training past his limits, he has grown to carry a massive power level with him even without turning into a Super Saiyan. Just before Piccolo attacked Dr.Gero, he sensed a massive surge of a power level, which was Vegeta flying in. This distracted him, and then after Vegeta showed up, Piccolo said "So that's who it was!" he knew that the power level sense that had distracted him for a split second was Vegetas. So all-in-all, Piccolo has heightened senses, and Vegetas power level was what Vegeta had done to Piccolo. Nothing physical. |
