There has been a lot of talk about whether or not they should illegalize the death penalty and stick with life sentencing. Some say that it is too cruel to kill someone just because of a crime they committed.

Others think that they should just kill all the "bad" people so then there is no evil in the world. I mean an eye for an eye right? If one commits a crime so horrible..why should they be allowed to live?

What do you think?

Life scentence for the most part.....although there are some really sick people out there....man, i'll try and get u some info about em, from wikipedia....sick stuff.

But death scentence should be applied in certain cases : for example, if a prisoner kills his cellmate....than, the guy obviously did not leanr his lesson by being in prison, and just can't stop killing....what do you do to a certian individual like that ?

Well, you kill im, cause he just jeapordices the lives of everyone around him.

Well, the debate is not a black and white kinda debate....it's more complicated than that...but i will lean more towards the life scentence.

Neither.

Although both keep criminals off the street and society safer, I believe there are methods that could possibly work much better, given the procedures are done properly. With our continuous advancements in technology and understandings of genetics and the human mind, it might eventually be possible to rehabilitate and/or manipulate the brain of a human with future technology to cure the "criminality" from the mind.

I think that is a long way off before Technology will be able to do that. Also you are going to be underminding people's free will. When you do that people are not going to like that. Criminal offenses on the most part..are choices. Some may be considered from being mentally ill, but it is proven that most crimes are committed because of free choice.. from a poor upbringing.

Now those of you who chose life sentencing..what if the prison gets too overcrowded? THen what ? A lot of prisons in the United States are overcrowded. So people in the United States have to pay taxes in order to keep those prisoner's in the prisons.

Killing people is wrong. If someone murders and then they get the death penalty, aren't we just murderers aswell? Two wrongs don't make a right.

Two wrongs don't make a right.

Not if the wrong prevents more wrongs from happening, which then becomes a situation where you choose the less worse wrong to make it eventually good in the end as a result.

your killing him so that he doesnt kill anyone else. Nothing wrong with that, they are just protecting people's families, no more unnecesary deaths.

An eye for an eye never solves anything.
Plus, sometimes the wrong person gets given death.
If the wrong person gets a life sentance, they can be released, but you can't reverse death.
And the murder would have to live the rest of there life with guilt.

The last time is happened, is when an insane person confessed about doing the crime when in fact he ahd nothing to do with it....he was just sick in the head....other than that....nohting
That's why we have people investigating the case....anywats, the death penalty is and always will be here.

The death penatly was totally abolished in the UK in 1989 I belive.

And alot of states in the US no longer use it, right?

So it won't always be here.

And people are wrongly convicted of crimes, it happens due to human error, can't be avoided. You just don't here about it most of the time.
