But not forever, maybe for a many years and give them intense therapy while they are jailed. And who voted for kill them?? EDIT: Reading these posts.. really people THINK. Most of you guys are saying pretty much this "OOh ya lockanyone who sexually assaults some one up in jail forever because they *****ed a person without them wanting it one time. And who cares if they were raped as a child or are mentally retarded, lock those miserable excuses of human being up forever, or cut their genitals off."

For the more "lighter" offenses, jail time and therapy may help. Then again, when you do something like that to someone else you've taken away something that can never fully be returned. And I don't wanna pay for that person's room and board. Certain first time offenders get time in the box and then some help. Repeaters get thing lopped off. In the end we want to help as many people as possible, we want to protect people from these monsters and we want to turn people from monsters in productive members of society. If I had to chose between spending millions trying to rehabilitate someone or tossing them in a wood chipper. I'd chose the most cost effective and assured way to know that they will never hurt anyone again. And to be honest, I don't care what kind of screwed up child-hood or mental condition someone had. These are the ones I fear the most, because they're can't control what they're doing and are gonna continue to do so. Give me someone who is in complete control of themselves. If they can consciencely make themselves engage in these acts, then they can consciencely not engage in them. You can more easily control someone who can control themself.

No. Studies have been done showing that most of the people who have mental issues and grow up in broken homes that have raped/murdered a person can't even tell right from wrong. Things like that. Yeah, scum of the earth... Now lets take a person who had a great childhood and no mental issues that rapes a girl because he was a sadist and liked the thrill goes out and rapes a little girl. Yeah, hes scum and should be punished without mercy. You are steroetyping these people so much. And to say that any and all sexual offenders should be killed, have life in jail, or have their genitals chopped off is increadibly stupid and if you agree with those choices well... maybe you need help.

This isn't a discussion about whether or not the Death Penalty is immoral. Discuss about it here. The point of severe punishments such as life-in-prison and the death penalty is to keep the public safe, not to torture the offender to the point of absolute hatred of society and life. We are humans, not sadistic revenge-hungry animals. If every sex offender was sent to Life-in-Prison, our jails would be full and our taxes will skyrocket (After all, who else pays for these people's food, clothes, etc.?). Also, not every sex offender's assault was severe enough to get such a harsh punishment. Again with this question: Would you feel the same way about this issue if it a close family member that was convicted? To me even if it was a close member or even a close friend i'd stil; feel the same considering this issue where its family or frineds reagardless acts such as these will not be tolerated they should be punishied to the fullest extent in my eyes. Some times when little kids is molested or raped some judges let the offender off easily and usally the offender commits the same act again. I do agree that we are not savage animals however i feel we just make them feel the way they're victims did or even worse.

I, Personally beleive that the offender should be killed exactly as they killed their victim. when they admit the story of what they did, they should be put in prison and held there until a person can carry out their punishment (aka exactly what they did to their victim). it is in humane and disgusting but so are they...

Firefox	If they show genuine remorse for their actions then they should just serve a prison sentence and given help. People who do it for fun because they enjoy it, they are the type of people that deserve a permanent place in prison.
