In the U.S. it was DragonBall Z. Then DragonBall. Then DragonBall GT. And in Japan where it all began, I think it began with DragonBall, then Dragonball Z, then DragonBall GT. |

In Japan, the Dragonball manga began. From there, I'm pretty sure they created the DBZ manga, and then made the DB anime and aired it. Then the DBZ anime was made and aired in Japan. Then in the U.S., DBZ was first to be aired, then Dragonball, and eventually Dragonball GT. |

Yes, the Arrival of Raditz was the first episode of DBZ. Don't know about the U.K. though. Edit: Be a man! Buy the Manga! |

Training hard !!

If you turly want the full db experience then watch dragonabll first. Start from the Red Ribbon army saga if you can't stomach the first few sagas (the may be a bit too kiddy fer some). |
|
-Training is bliss- -The Stamina Sessions- If challenge had a taste, you'd be quite delicious | |

DB aired before DBZ in North America, so that's Canada and U.S. So no, DBZ did not come before DB in the U.S. |

Years before DBZ, I remember that. Because I watched the very first DB episode when it was aired, and the first DBZ episode when it was aired, years difference between the 2 times. |

I shall recall my tale of how Dragonball was first aired in England. When I was seven my big brother brought back a Dragonball comic from a schooltrip to France but it was all in French so i didn't bother reading it. I dunno what was happening, all I remember is Bulma on her wierd bike thing. When I was about 12 I went on holiday to Spain and saw an episode of Dragon Ball on TV but again, it was all in Spanish so I didn't bother watching it. It was the one where Tien is fighting Goku and he grows more arms and then Goku grows even more arms to fight him. Years later, in 1999 there aired on Cartoon Network an advert for Dragonball Z. It was a japanese karate master recalling all the fierce battles he's faught in the past, it was deliberatly badly dubbed to make it seem more oriental: "I saw many great things and big battles, but last week, I saw an episode of Dragon Ball Z. Ooooh, I was speachless, it was too fast." And the advert showed flashes of the opening credits (Clips from the first few films). It was the talk of the playground for weeks. Eventually it began to air every day at five. But the weekends were wierd, the weekday ones started from Raditz arriving on Earth but then the weekend ones also started from Raditz arriving on Earth so the weekend got behind quite quickly. I think the weekday ones went through the saiyan saga up to Goku in hospital before starting again from Raditz so for a time the weekend ones were further through the story than the weekday. After the second or third airing of the Saiyan saga on weekdays they started the Namek saga. When they got up to about the end of Captain Ginyu's section they started again from Goku in hospital. The whole thing becomes a bit of a mess from there as they kept repeating bits or the weekend ones caught up with the weekday... Also it moved from Cartoon Network to CNX which became Toonami at some point. They began showing adverts on Cartoon Network that were splices of bits of future episodes; mainly Gohan in awe of Goku becoming a Super Saiyan. Then came a tense bit where every day was a battle to get to the TV at 5 to watch the next exciting episode of Dragonball Z. Then for several months they would repeat the whole series from various points, seemingly at random at different times on different days but they never went further than the one where Trunks first showed up and you see his feet decend into the screen. Eventually, probably about 2002 they started showing the androids saga and from there they continued airing new ones quite regularly until the end of the buu saga. Then there was a wait of a few months of repeats before GT started airing, I think that was in 2003. Then there was a wait of quite some time before Dragonball started airing, I don't know when exactly. Then there was a wait of at least a year before the films were shown. But that was all on Sky, we're still waiting for the terestrial release.... |

It's weird how they aired DBZ before DB, as DB sets the story o_O Most likely because DBZ was more action orientated. Anyways, that's like showing Aliens before Alien. |
