Posts: 8 Group: New Member Member #1,544 Joined: July 3, 2006	I know for a fact that if you raise a child without discipline, he/she will turn into a spoiled brat and even if you try to discipline them after they have become a brat it is practically too late. They have aquired a mind set and will not give up their getting everything they want no matter what. So my answer to this thing is that, yes, it's ok to spank your kids, to a certain extent. If you spank them so hard they can't sit, then you might want to ease off a bit, but if you just make them cry a little or have them in a little pain so they know what they did was wrong, they will succomb and most likely become a better person.

If you spank a child and state they got spanked because they did something wrong, they will think that if i do that again, my butt will hurt, i dont' want my butt to hurt. That's how a normal child thinks. Shinobi13 it sounds like your parents didn't follow good guidelines as parents. So it sounds like they failed. If your parents beated you for no reason and did much worse then that is an example of really bad parenting. Spanking is a good tool if used properly. And for a side argument. America tried some health care stuff, it failed horribly. (Clinton Era) Canada's health care system sucks so y would USA bother with installing a system that sucked?

Parents have to train thier children to be functional members of society. The only time when a parent ever fails their child is when they give up on training them and fail to train them for life in the world. A parent needs to let the child know that certain actions and behaviors are not acceptable. For some, the talking and reasoning will work and others may need a different type of punishment. Parents just need to work a little bit and find out what works best with their children. Heck, threaten to take away my Dragonball Z and I'll clean my room and their room and scrub the entire house from top to bottom. My mom beat the crap out of me when I stepped out of line. She may have been excessive, but she raised me the way she was raised. I look at my sisters and all they need is for her to look at them the wrong way and they get in line. Parents just need to be parents.

My grandma (who has taken care of me since I was 2) only spanked me till my *** hurt, which can be seen as where my aggresive attributes started. After I woke up the next morning, I forgot I was spanked, because it was short, like 2 minutes top. 5 minutes of physical discipline isn;t gunna do much, it didn't with me anyway. It's the talking and groundings that set me straight. I was grounded for months at a time. I think 5 months was the most I was grounded for. It did alot better then simply spanking my ***, as it would to all kids (if they don't wear a helmet).

That is clearly not the case here. Not ALL kids are better because they aren't spanked. Look at emos for example. Everyone hates them, and they punish theirselves by cutting themselves. Yes, I was being funny/sarcastic. More kids here have said that spanking helps than spanking doesn't help. So, don't say groundings help kids better than spankings.

Legendary SS4 Posts: 261 Group: Member Member #1,513 Joined: June 15, 2006	Ive heard about parents that will make theyre child or even teenager where a diaper to show them the age they are acting and its especially embarrassing if you were the oldest in the family and you were made to be put in diapers by having the parents hold them down till they were done, and they used strong adhesives to keep then from being able to take it off. Some mean parents even made them wet or soil themselves even if they were like 16. Just imagine being 16 and made to be in diapers by your parents in front of your friends and brothers and or sisters that were even younger than you. Now thats what I call a big punishment. What do u think?

If its not working with spanking, then move on to something else, and maybe the kid is just really screwed up and can't be discplined. Hopefully they won't turn out bad but who knows. And usually really violent people would say they were beaten as a child or other things but so far i have not heard that someone was really violent because their mommy or daddy spanked their fanny a couple times.

Even today, I'm twice the size of my mom and she would put me in the ground if i start getting out of line.
