I think he's talking about Vegeta and Trunks in the Gravity Chamber...unless I'm missing something. Which might have been a decent excuse if not for one thing. Both Trunks and Vegeta actually stop their intense amount of sweating once Trunks transform and they calm down. There are panels, up close of the two, without a single bead of sweat on them and it's only after they begin fighting that they're drenched. But as usual, that's not really the point. The point is, if someone is going to use "Sweating, Flared Auras and Serious Faces" to say Gohan and Goten on par with each other despite statements saying otherwise, you'd logically have to do the same with Trunks and Vegeta. |

Huh, that's actually super weird. Vegeta just suddenly stops sweating in a single panel. Literally during Trunks sentence. Either Saiyans have extremely fast recovery times from sweating, or Toriyama just goofed up there. |

@Emiya, how strong you think the boys are as Super Saiyans? As for Vegeta's sparring section with Trunks... I don't think it's really comparable to Gohan vs Goten. Vegeta had already been training for a little while. Not to mention Vegeta was clearly able to fight back when hit by Trunks and gave him a bloody nose, whereas Gohan was able to do anything beyond block Goten's hits (What is less impressive than dodging IMO). Not to mention there are statements that lump the boys on the same tier as Gohan, both implying they have the potential to surpass Gohan soon: Gohan: “Really!? That’s how you guys have been playing?...*thinking* If I’m not careful, I’ll be outstripped…by these little squirts…” Bulma: “[Vegeta] says he’s reached a good age to begin basic training, so he’s teaching him grappling. Apparently he wants to make Trunks even stronger than you.” Gohan believing Goten can't be on the Budokai doesn't mean much, given how he invited Dende to the Budokai. He didn't know Goku had gotten much stronger? So in other terms, Vegeta being Vegeta. He didn't think Perfect Cell would hand his a** to him, yet he still did. I do have evidence Vegeta was wrong. He thinks his superior position wouldn't change yet Goku surpasses him. Also, what if Piccolo and 18 were suppressed ? When was the last time Vegeta ever saw them? They could've gotten stronger these past 7 years. There's no way he can say his superior position wouldn't change when he doesn't know how strong the others are. He only knows Gohan and Krillin are weaker than him but that's about it. I don't get why his quote is treated as a holy grail. Chapter: 430 (DBZ 236), P6.5-6 Context: after Gohan asks that nobody becomes a Super Saiyan in the tournament Vegeta: “…Well, I guess that’s fine. If nobody becomes a Super Saiyan, then the conditions are the same. My superior position doesn’t change…” You can't read this and not pass it off as complete arrogance. He's not proven wrong, but I won't give him the benefit of the doubt based on him being wrong most of the times.
Well for one, he's wrong about his superior position in the tournament; Goku is stronger than him. It could very well apply to Piccolo and 18. Well apparently Toriyama is also making things up by having Beerus saying that Frieza is stronger than Base Goku. Glad I have the author on my side.
Touché, but from what it seems she had a hard time gauging their strength. If I had trouble gauging strength of my opponent then I'd put myself ahead of them just enough so I can beat them without risk of killing. There's also the fact that they need to go Super Saiyan to knock her down; Which reverts me to my old question; Why bother become fifty times stronger if you and your partner, who both are most likely the same strength as your opponent, not just opt for a combined kiai blast that could easily knock 18? Nobody is arguing that 18 is stronger than SSJ Kids, but if the Kids aren't on their level, The adults probably won't be on her level too as they consider the squirts to be really strong. All in all, that fight isn't clear for both sides. 18 has trouble fighting the kids, but nothing tells me she was fighting in her full power. The kids were at a disadvantage in their getup. |

I'd probably put the kids around SSJ Goku at the Cell Games...but then again, I could put them a bit higher. Meanwhile, I might have a 2x gap (maybe not necessarily that large) of Gohan over the kids. Large enough to support Gohan's obvious superiority but still close enough that, if Gohan doesn't watch out, he will be surpassed. I'd have to personally really get down into numbers, amps, and all that jazz to really give a solid answer and it would require several differing points. What gaps I'm using, Piccolo's overall placement in the Cell Games, etc. As I said, I don't have to have Piccolo on Super Vegeta's level. I don't use such large SSJ amps later so it's not that hard for me. But the problem seems to be that people are trying to work the story to fit THEIR criteria and not the other way around even though the story remains anonymous enough for you to work things out the way the story wants. --- ---
I feel like you and anyone else who tries to pull up the "Vegeta is Arrogant" card is really missing the point here. The point is that, Vegeta has fought against No. 18 in the past, has seen the power of PIccolo, felt it against Imperfect Cell and the Cell Games. He's seen Piccolo walk out of the ROSAT and knows what they were capable of in the past and knows what he himself is capable of. It makes no sense for Vegeta, to act like he can beat No. 18 in Base if he's somehow still weaker than Freeza. That's not arrogance, that's purely stupidity and Vegeta was never so idiotic to make that mistake. What power No. 18 or Piccolo may have gotten throughout the 7 years does not matter. What matters is when the last time Vegeta saw them. Because the argument to make Vegeta weaker than Freeza, literally lies on Vegeta being a complete idiot who got his brain blended after Super Perfect Cell slapped him silly. It's an argument that is literally saying that Vegeta is so stupid, so brain dead, that despite clearly being weaker than Freeza, he still has the gall to claim he can, at the very least, beat No. 18.
Absolutely nothing says it can't happen. Edited by EMIYA, May 29 2018, 09:27 PM.

That's completely illogical. Nothing in the slightest suggests that Super Saiyan has changed it's boost. You're just trying to lower a boost because of what you believe levels to be. Consistency matters. |

No it really doesn't. The only reason the 50x boost existed in the first place was because of numbers, that's it. Toriyama himself even noted that he envisioned an amp of only 10x. It's not really the 10x that matters so much as it is the point that, the boost was never in Toriyama's eyes meant to be so big and implications, such as Gotenks, gives a very strong indication of just how small that boost can be. The Super Saiyan kids are already coming within some contact to Super Saiyan Gohan, whom in terms, was rivaling a guy considered to be stronger than Perfect Cell (most would say against Goku.) Base Gotenks, if nothing else, needs to be stronger than the Super Saiyan kids and frankly, it would be baffling if they weren't at least getting up to the SSJ2 Goku/Majin Vegeta. A 50x boost would instantly pull any Super Saiyan CG tier character ahead of Fat Boo. And yet, Piccolo has this awkward notion that he wants to check out Gotenks' speed. LIke, that's not the question you should be asking Piccolo. The question you should be asking is why Boo has spontaneously exploded and died the very moment someone 40x+ stronger than him appeared. Indications of such smaller amplifications have already been given and its not the stories job to fit with your numbers, it is your job to fit with the story. Here's what the story either shows and or/states. -Piccolo is weaker than Kaioshin and downright even tells this to Goku to his face. -Piccolo is treated as trash and turned to stone while the Base Saiyans are the ones treated as having remarkable energy. -The Base Kids are capable of giving No. 18 a tough time. -Vegeta outright states he can win the tournament in Base an at the very least, he knows No. 18 is there at the time. We literally have several indications if not outright statements from characters supporting the Base Saiyans notion and yet so many people seem to want to "twist" that around to suit their agenda. Things like. -Piccolo was only referring to Kaioshin's status, even though Goku clearly wasn't asking about that. -Vegeta was being overconfident, even though he knows darn well how powerful No. 18 and Piccolo were in the past. - Everyone was supresssed even though Babidi and Dabura were able to specifically point out everyone and could even tell Kaioshin and Kibito were there. And heck, if push comes to shove, I can easily have Kid Gohan 50x+ stronger than everyone in the Cell Games, because not one thing says he can't. Something that's even better, is to specifically have Piccolo weaker. People say that Piccolo MUST be on Super Saiyan Vegeta's level or something in the CG, well not one thing states that he does. Either way, it is actually made very clear where the Base Saiyans stand and we are given several statements and feats supporting that notion. There are several ways ways to move the characters and numbers around but the end result has to match what the story wants, not what the reader wants. Take this for example: Gotenks was all but outright stated to have surpassed his Super Saiyan form in the ROSAT in base. That's what Piccolo's whole deal was, that the current Gotenks would never defeat Super Boo yet this new Post-Gotenks actually inflicts a level of confidencece from him. If we were to use the SEG amps, Gotenks is now 50x+ stronger than he was before. Now, does one think Goku and Vegeta are 50x stronger than the kids? I think most would say 3x is pretty intense. Yet a dance fusion of Goku and Vegeta is considered powerful enough to worry Gotenks Boo. Logically and number wise, this is absolutely impossible but it doesn't matter what the supposed "numbers" are. What matters is what the story deems and in such a case here, the story deemed a fusion of Goku and Vegeta to be 50x+ stronger than Gotenks' own Pre-ROSAT fusion. |

You could argue that Vegeta was more worn out from his training and it's also clear that he underestimated Trunks, which would excuse Trunks barely grazing him. Even if we want to use more consistent/objective evidence, Daizenshuu 2 states Goten's battle power isn't the least bit inferior to Gohan's
![]() Piccolo tells everyone to suppress their Ki, but saying they were suppressed is twisting things around? It's also incredibly obvious that Dabra and Bobbidi can't sense Ki, so they must've figured out everyone was on top of the cliff by some other means.
It was a Fusion of Goku and Gohan, not Goku and Vegeta. Besides, there's nothing suggesting Fusion is linear; Piccolo shouldn't be hoping for a miracle if he already senses that Base Goten and Trunks are stronger than their pre-RoSaT Super Saiyan forms. Edited by Six Trails, May 30 2018, 01:56 AM.

Then unfortunately, the Daiz. would be wrong in this case as it directly contradicts material given in the manga. Though to be fair, I don't necessarily blame the guidebooks for thinking this too much. It's obvious that Goten is at least getting within range of Gohan and the statements in the manga can only lead to so much difference. I feel this is simply overstating a concept in the manga that wasn't so strict. The same way the guidebooks claim SSJ2 Ki Gohan was getting power from Goku during his battle with Cell. They probably took Goku's line of "Let's show him the power we created together" a little bit more directly than necessary.
I have a very strong feeling that Toriyama intended for them, at least at that point, to be able to sense Ki. I doubt Toriyama even ha a clue that Kaioshin and Kibito were supposed to be special an couldn't be sensed. Regardless of how they did it, the point was made that Gohan, Vegeta and Goku were singled out as having marvelous energy, even before they knew about Super Saiyan while Piccolo and the others got the short end of the stick. |

Then what do you say about 18's complete confidence in winning the prize money? It's the only reason she entered the tournament. Why would she enter the tournament and have confidence she would win, when half of the Z-fighters are superior to her? She most likely thought that Piccolo was the only one stronger than her and he can be bargained to let her win since he doesn't care about the prize money. or maybe: 18 > Vegeta > Piccolo > 18 ? It makes no sense how you slice it. And nobody is saying Vegeta is a complete moron, he's just too arrogant for his own good. Maybe I'm missing the point but it's clear through out the show that for Vegeta to admit inferiority; You either have to hand his a** to him or just show your full power around him. The first one never happened since 18 or Piccolo never fought him in the tournament and the other could be explained by the fact 18 and Piccolo were hiding their full power. Point is, Vegeta is terrible at gauging strength, as shown by his very quote (The superior position one) falling out ever since it was revealed that Goku was stronger than him. Meanwhile, Beerus' quote about Base Saiyans being weaker than Frieza has never been proved to be wrong, nor did Goku himself argue with him. It's kind of hypocritical that we assume Beerus is lying, when Vegeta's part of character is his overestimation of himself before he gets into a fight and loses. |
