Scenario: In an alternate dimension, prior to the lots being drawn for the Battle City Finals, Kaiba makes an off-color comment regarding Marik's hairstyle, setting the latter into a spiraling rage, thereby awakening the dormant Yami Marik without the need for Odion's loss of consciousness. This occurrence disrupts the space-time continuom, thereby causing the lots for the Battle City Finals to be drastically different. The new pairings are as followed:

Quarter-Finals
(A) Yami Bakura vs. Joey Wheeler

(B) Mai Valentine vs. Ishizu Ishtar

(C) Seto Kaiba vs. Yami Marik

(D) Yami Yugi vs. Odion

Semi-Finals
(1) Winner of (A) vs. Winner of (B)

(2) Winner of (C) vs. Winner of (D)

Finals
Winner of (1) vs. Winner of (2)

Restrictions

- Marik's Millenium Rod will not 'betray' him with Kaiba, but Ishizu can still see into the future
- Semi-OOC (Ishizu will duel Yugi bloodlusted, Marik will not screw around just to torture if it could cost him the match)

Who ends up as the final champion in the end?

Bakura vs. Yugi
I'd still give it to Yugi despite not having Slifer to save his bacon.
How though? Bakura completely had Yugi owned.
True, that Destiny Board strategy was wicked, but would you then consider Bakura to be the superior duelist? He did opt not to use that strategy against Yami Marik, after all, and got trounced.
Bakura only lost because he didn't know the full extent of Ra's abilities. Pretty cheap that Yami Marik did.

Also, yes I would consider Bakura a superior duelist to Yugi. He's proven it to me.
He was also throwing away his Life Points like wet toilet paper, so it's not like his inability to use Ra correctly was the only thing going wrong. He would have lost regardless though since Marik knew his strategy from the start.

To you, all the characters are wrong when they say Yugi and Kaiba (and Joey in GX) are the best? That seems a little odd to me.
Why mention a dead guy?
It never changed when he was around.

But I'm going to agree to disagree on this. It's going nowhere.
