In the MCU he does it because... reasons? He talks about how his planet went through overpopulation and stuff but it's not like that would've solved anything. At least Thanos desired to please Death itself, that's unique, and it makes him a lot scarier. MCU Thanos lacks intimidation, especially when it comes to his design which is rather underwhelming and full of too much detail with his armor.

As I understood, he was basically the main character, and given all the focus thereof. The MCU was practically a costar in the movie, and it's a lot harder to create a threatenning character if we're following them all the time, at least not while having anything approaching a story with a beginning middle and end.

Also wait, Thanos' eyes were actually black? I figured those were just shadows all this time, artistic shadows that never left because it looked cool. And plus to be fair, eyes like that I don't really think would look all that natural, maybe they could have gone some other color potentially, or portray black eyes differently, but I think having them look like... Well, shadows would have just been odd as hell, especially for a main character given we can't even see their eyes, windows of the soul and all that.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Yeah that would have been dumb as hell, real life doesn't have dramatic comic book shadowing everywhere, he would have looked a right weirdo.

Refer to All Might in My Hero Academia, he's designed like a comic book character and stands out from everyone else because of that, only that's obviously in 2D so it still works.

I wonder if we could see better and better villains from here on out?

The whole idea is that we know the MCU cast now, we don't need more development for Cap or Thor as they're well established characters.
Previous movies have had to establish and build up the good guys and fit in a bad guy, which has mostly failed badly.

I wouldn't want every movie to take on this perspective exactly but I hope villains from now on get a bit more meat to them, they have been severely lacking. Anyone that isn't a human with connections to the main character has been pretty drab.

Also I think Loki is actually dead, the set photo's appear to have everyone in old costumes so it's likely some sort of flashback.
I really hope he is dead, he's boring at this point and another fake out would be cheap as hell.

Also the dumbass theories are...well, dumb?

People think Banner couldn't Hulk out because he was Loki and...wut? Most of the scenes with Hulk having performance issues were for the audience only so why would that be the case, nobody else could see Hulk appearing and saying "No!"
Unless Loki merged with him somehow that would just be stupid really.

Yes, and this is the case with practically every Thanos story as well, the cameras and the artists love to create and move Thanos around.

What I don't find intimidating is his downgraded personality and design, not how much screentime he was given. Heck that's why his previous cameos were good, the less we saw, the more we feared what was about to come. Though here... he didn't quite do much, until the very end.

It's both.

Thanos was specifically drawn by that with that intention. He was depicted as a very soulless and very ruthless maniacal character, which has likely not changed in recent years.

Again, it's not shadows, his eyes are black, and they were in the first GotG movie... LIke I've ALSO said.

I've said this before, I'll say it again, best way to adapt a comic book is through animation, unless you do a really good job with the designs like Sam Raimi's Spider-Man movies which even with some liberties did a very good job with the looks (minus Green Goblin).

I see a lot of people saying MCU Thanos' CGI looked bad and that's one thing I disagree on, he looked better than most CGI characters in the MCU.

My Dear Melancholy,

Thanos looked great ignoring the fact he took off his beautiful armour.

Iron Man looks great.
Captian America in Winter Soilder and Avengers 2 looked great.
Black panther I wanted him to have an all sleek black design with no detail.

Hawkeye the worst in the MCU by far.

Same here, too much detail ruins great designs, I felt the same way about Black Panther. He should've worn his cape for this huge event as well.

Iron Man's new armor is interesting, clearly a combo between the All-New and symbiote armors, which is pretty neat.

From this point onwards we can avoid using spoiler tags, right? No one would be keeping up with this thread at this point.

Speaking of the movie though, has it come out to DVD/Blu-Ray/whatever anywhere, yet?

I'm alright with most of the designs, I think Black Panther having a cape would be kinda dumb really, it's not very practical for a character that employs the use of stealth a lot and it wouldn't be for these fight scenes.

Unless he has a funky cape like Batman that does weird s***?

I seen an article suggesting Captain Marvel is going to be from the multiverse and someone in the comments said that maybe they'll do Marvel Zombies.
Can you imagine Disney doing zombies though? How freaking lame would that be.

They're zombies but there's no blood and they don't eat people...b-but they are still zombies alright!

...Black Panther? ...Stealthy? Hardly one of his major traits.

And besides, a cape can be a weapon as well, Batman himself has shown this without having to turn it into a glider multiple times.

In more than one continuity as well, because no writer is silly enough to think 'durr, capes are just accesories to show off and stuff'.

Posted Image

Nevermind how many other comic book characters specifically have their capes as weapons... Spawn, anyone? One of the most popular anti-heroes out there?

It also shows better than anything that he is the ruler of Wakanda. Kings and emperors may not have done much with their capes, but superheroes tend to use them efficiently.

It just looks cooler, too. I mean come on, how can you say no to that when the MCU isn't going for anything beyond stuff being kinda cool? :p

Except not as cool as this.

It’s only been out for 3 weeks

For reference, Black Panther’s blu-ray literally just came out today

My Dear Melancholy,

Wait.... Steve where do you get these rumors from. Cause 100% of the time they're something the MCU would never do or ever became a mainstream rumor.

Black Panther cape is so damn sexy in the comics. And Steve you do know he can take the cap off he doesn't always wear it. But when he does, he look Godly

The MCU almost gave him a cape but it would had ruined the movie cause...

Yeah that looks much, much better.

I can appreciate designs better when he looks good both with the cape and without it, like the EMH Black Panther.

Looks cool in the comics, sure but I think that one there looks kinda dumb really.

And stealth might not be a huge thing for Black Panther normally but they clearly imply he is a stealthy character by giving him those trainers that make virtually no sound(even though they had no real function in the movie)
Plus how he fought at that scene in the start.

Unless he could also have a silent cape it would be pointless for him to have one here, these movies are by no means "realistic" but they attempt to be slightly more grounded.

I never read the article, I assumed it would be dumbass clickbait based on a throwaway line of dialogue they wanted to suggest meant multiverse.
It took them like 15 movies to work magic in can you imagine they just went "Oh yeah, multiverse now"

As cool as the Iron Spider suit is I hope it stays broken for the next Spider-Man movie or maybe Pete will refuse to be an Avenger and not use it for whatever reason.
He is way to much Iron Boy right now.
