Religious question, does anyone know why God doesn't just destroy Satan? Why is he waiting for Judgement Day? He should just be able to blink him out of existence right? |

God created us (and Satan) with the gift of free will - the ability to willfully choose Him or reject Him. We choose to sin - to reject God - through willful disobedience. This is what Satan did. God wants us to love Him, but without free will, we could not sincerely love Him. We cannot be forced to love someone. If God created us without free will, we would be living machines and not made in His image and likeness. God permits moral evil to the extent that He gives us free will. Thanks to us, the moral evil in the world is the result of our choice. Therefore, if God destroyed Satan then he should also destroy all other sinners which would violate our free will. |

Yet, it almost sounds like God can't destroy Satan, or us for that matter. |

God and Satan are brothers, no? At least they are depicted as such in several writings. Maybe God doesn't want to be a kinslayer. Or he needs Satan to rule Hell so he doesn't have to deal with all the bad people. Edited by Emmeth, Apr 14 2018, 09:45 AM.

Lucifer was an angel for one, along with all the other actual demons, not just spirits of hell. He’s not going to destroy something he created to be closest to him. Also, Angels were created to do Gods bidding, humans had free will. Also, you can’t destroy him. He’s the balance in the universe with God. To have good, you must have evil. Otherwise it’s normal. There’s balance to all things in the universe, nothing is outside of that. |

See it sounds like it's all made up. If God can do anything, he wouldn't use Angels to do his bidding. Then it's also probable that if he needs Angels, he can't do it. If he can't do something, then he's not as powerful as people think. If through God, anything is possible, does that mean that without God everything is impossible? |

God is supposedly all powerful but, the angels main focus is to praise him really. They help fight the “war on heaven” and aid people since that’s beneath God or something. |

Since when was there a war on heaven? This isn't the Norse Gods we are talking about. |

God didn't give us free will, it gave us freedom of thought with literally no understanding of what any of it is or that disobedience is even a bad thing. Satan encouraged us to eat from the tree of knowledge, and then we had free will. God wanted us to love it without us even knowing what that meant and then punished us for doing something we didn't even know was bad. God can't kill Satan because God seems pretty inept at everything, to me it's almost like they're brothers rather than creation and creator. I mean, it just doesn't make sense for there to be a balance between good and evil...why? Why did God decide to make evil? What makes God outright good? Unless there were already rules God had no control over then it made the concept of evil itself, which makes little sense. If there's any truth to any of it, I'd say it makes most sense for them to be siblings of equal power but perhaps not equal influence. |

I did find a reason on this site. Pretty much it's because Satan cannot die, and was created as the perfect being. |

The War on Heaven is continuous and has been going on sinc e Hell was started. It’s not literally things fighting but, it’s a thing. God gave us the power to think and make our own decisions, that’s free will. Nowhere on the Bible does it say the Seprent was Satan either. The Serpent is it’s own entity that was in the Garden of Eden. Also, God wipes out two towns and flooded the earth, among other ridiculous things. He is the creator of all things, it’s not that he can’t do it. They aren’t brothers either, he created all the angels, Lucifer being the most beautiful one to stand at his side and sing his praise. That’s why his wings were made of jewels, so he could reflect the light onto heaven. God didn’t make evil, he created life. Evil was created when Adam and Eve learned of it. The Garden was just the norm, they knew nothing else. Once they were kicked out is when the garden was viewed as a paradise. That’s where balance comes into play. The earth became a bad place while Eden remained good. From there is when Heaven and Hell were formed to what they are today. Satan was created to be perfect but, that doesn’t mean invincible. God is supposed to take Lucifer, Hell, and all the demons and throw them into the lake of fire after the second coming. God is capable of doing so now but, then the humans don’t need to worry about what’ll happen to them if they sin. View it as the Yin and Yang sign. It’s the perfect symbol for life. There’s good in the bad and bad in the good but, they create a balance that is life. Edit: I’m not religious Edited by Wolf, Apr 14 2018, 02:09 PM.

There are also other ideas. For example, one such idea (I believe Dante posited this) was that the devil was stuck in a big block of ice in the deepest part of hell. No real reason to kill him if he's just stuck in prison. There is also the idea that Satan works with God to test humanity. He's the accuser, and you have to prove yourself better than his accusation and such. Others are that Satan does have some power, and they at the end of the war there will be this grand battle, and at the end of it peace will actually be established between the two sides (as God and Satan finally reconcile and see eye to eye) creating a new world order of a united world. This one as you can probably guess is from an earlier christian sect that also took a look from paganism. Edited by Tinny, Apr 14 2018, 02:34 PM.
