(TIL this movie has a lot of posters, but I chose this one because the rest have either too much going on or are too bland)

Like most Disney classics I imagine this was our introduction to the classic tale (not mine but, second is better than nothing, and it was definitely better than the first adaptation I saw lol) and it's still a pretty damn good one I'd say. Not great but still good, and it boasts a really wonderful artstyle, very different from most other Disney movies that came before or after it.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

One of the best art designs for any animated films. There's some good behind the scenes stuff on this movie about how Walt Disney pushed really hard to give it a different look from the previous films. A lot of pastels for color and sharper angles for backgrounds and locations.

That's all you can focus on given how she speaks less than any other main character from Disney lol (with a total of 18 lines and about the same amount of screen time in minutes)

Though remember, she's 16 in the movie. That was Maleficent's curse after all.

"Listen well, all of you. The princess shall indeed grow in grace and beauty, beloved by all who know her. But... before the sun sets on her 16th birthday, she shall prick her finger - on the spindle of a spinning wheel - and DIE!

Few other Disney villains get introductions as good as this.

Yeah this movie is great. I remember the first time I saw it, my mom made me watch it with her and I thought it was a lame girly movie. Wow was I so wrong, it's probably one of my favorite Disney movies and has made me appreciate and watch others as well. Prince Phillip vs Maleficient is also awesome.

It's a very sweet finale, one of the best final showdowns of any Disney movie, and Maleficent goes down awesomely, donning Queen Grimdhilde's final scream before her death.

I would say it's somewhat girly at times, which I don't mind myself as I've seen faaar girlier stuff, but Flora, Fauna and Merryweather are so fun to watch I don't really care. As far as secondary characters go, they're among the best in Disney, especially for the period this movie comes from.

I actually legit love that you're revisiting these classics!
My fave thing about Sleeping Beauty aside from Maleficent being a badass is the styling and atmosphere of it. It had a very particular look compared to other Disney movies -- and it worked, the whole thing was just gorgeous animation wise.

I follow this girl on youtube who does monthly break downs of all animated Disney movies and gives you a lot of cool and curious facts about their production and making of process. You might enjoy this.

It's a toss up between this or Alice in Wonderland for my favorite 50s Disney movie.

Probably rank them as

Alice in Wonderland
Sleeping Beauty
Cinderella
Peter Pan
Lady and the Tramp
