Trace your ancestors for free

All you need to do is register and providing you know at least some information about your family history, you should be able to trace your ancestors using this site. It's not the best, but it's free, unlike so many others out there which basically do the same job.

Yeah that sounds about right. You can baptize people post death if they come from your family tree, so I imagine this is for the faithful who can't afford such costs.

I always wonder where they get some of their material from. Usually it's just Census and public record data. But most of the time it doesn't go back very far. Maybe the last 60 years at most.

They ask you when you register if you are a member of the church. I don't know what difference it makes. I was able to find exactly the same records as a better site that I actually pay for.

Pretty accurate, but most of the info is set based on what Census documents provide. My grandfather who came over from Czechoslovakia is on there, from a family history sheet apparently made in 1940.
