Talking of s***ty jobs in that other topic, I got to thinking. What if absolutely nobody in an area, a country or perhaps even in the whole world wanted to do a job? Like say sewage maintenance. I doubt many people want to do that in the first place but what if literally nobody opted for it? I wonder what would happen because the government couldn't force people to do important jobs like that, surely basically all they could do is offer people ridiculous sums of money or get foreigners in? In this scenario though...what if foreigners don't want to either... Kinda weird how an economy could so easily collapse if a certain job just became completely undesirable. Or on a similar note if people were too stupid to do an important job, like maintaining the systems of a power plant. If literally nobody was intelligent enough to learn how to do it I wonder what would happen. |

Can you imagine one dude being paid like 10 million an hour to shovel the mountains of s*** that are left around? Wonder what would happen in fields where money isn't a problem, like science. No point people being scientists if they have no ingenuity and can't actually make any progress. |

What really happens, is that the company just makes someone similar to the position do that job on top of their job, and pays them a little more until they get fed up and quit. I know first hand. |

Well I mean, surely it wouldn't go up that high. But yeah, if no one wanted to do sewage work for less than a million dollars, then no one would do it... You don't get minimum pay for sewage work. It's not high because you don't need education for it, and uneducated people are desperate for jobs. But if you're going to look for work with nothing more than having been to elementary school sewage work would probably be one of the nicer payed jobs. |

Robots are only as smart as the people who make them. Which makes them quite prone to mistakes and really stupid. |

Has nothing to do with people not wanting to do a job. |

I doubt a situation like that would occur. There's always going to be someone desperate enough that they'll take any job, because the alternative is being homeless or starving to death. Most people already hate their jobs, but they do it because they need to. The less options someone has, the more likely they'll be forced to do those crappy jobs. |

I imagine it's easy for ex-convicts to get these types of jobs compared to more desirable ones, and there will always be convicts. |

Has a lot to do with it. Robots will never be able to fill every job. It takes a ton of work to get a robot up to par with any task job, and some jobs can't be replaced by robots, which by the way also is a job to take care of the robots. |
