The Moon's done a better job at that if you ask me, just look at all its craters. Most planets stop asteroids that have collision courses set on Earth anyway.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

But is that the case only due to Jupiter and Saturn being gas giants though? I mean anything that crashes into em is eventually erased.

The moon has so many craters because the moon doesn't have an atmosphere. most asteroids burn up in Earth's atmosphere.

I actually read this exact link yesterday, I just wanted more casual thoughts on the question.

What does that even mean?
Space is a vaccuum. An atmosphere is a layer of gas.
If an asteroid travels through space it travels in a vacuum at incredible speeds because there is no friction in space, therefore almost no energy is needed to propel an object.
If an asteroid traveling at great speeds hit the atmosphere the air compresses very quickly which creates an incredible amount of heat. Thus the asteroid burns up.

The moon does not have this layer of air, therefore the asteroid just smashes into the surface and creates a crater

Yeah it does, I know that at least Jupiter does. We'd be long dead if it didn't exist.
