"But if we take away the guns...then there's no guns to play with!" *read in a stereotypical hick voice* That seems to be the basis of all arguments for them I find, they always parrot the same s*** but what they really mean is "I like guns, they're so cool" Explosions are cool too...making grenades easily accessible probably wouldn't do any harm, most people are responsible with their weaponry y'see. The ones who aren't are just outliers. Not like these things happen often, almost every day of the year isn't literally every day of the year so it's fine really. Seriously it's ridiculous and while I'm not the most empathetic person in the world I'm sad that I barely care now. I saw the news today and all it got from me was a casual "Another one" Didn't even mention it to my co-worker, it's just not even news. It's as important as the next shot of Kim K's inflated a*** because it's so damn regular and that's the true tragedy to me. The politicise thing is hilarious though "Let's wait a while because we care so much about the dead people we will do absolutely nothing to prevent events like this happening again" "Oh look another one happened...yeah sorry we have to wait again, it's just not right" "A nursery this time, discussing this would be so wrong, hopefully one day there will be a big enough gap between these that we mi- oh there's been another shooting LOL" I would hope that maybe this s*** dies off as older generations die, let's not lie to ourselves, it's mostly older folk that still desperately cling to their guns. Progressive younger generations should use them less and less and advocate for stricter regulations more. All we have to do is watch the mountains and mountains of dead children pile up in the meantime. Yay. |

People either have the right to defend themselves if they don’t. And there’s no data that says we re better off if people are. Stripped of the right to defend themselves. |

Most of the people who get attacked have no ability to defend themselves anyway, for all the people who get shot at each year almost none of them save themselves with their own guns. Fact of the matter is if someone pulls a gun on you, you're probably dead unless you're Clint Eastwood. If someone aims to shoot you a handcannon in your pocket won't save you. And the guns people have but never use sure as hell don't save these children, but they're very often used to murder them. So I'm not sure why it's even a discussion. Guns make you feel safer but in reality they don't help all that much, not compared to the damage they do. You should not be able to use a lethal weapon unless you're trained how to, civilians joining a firefight is just a disaster waiting to happen. |

That’s one of the most retarded things I ever heard. Why do cops carry guns. Why do cops have the right to carry a gun. Btw I apologize for the typo in my last post. |

Why are cops relevant here? This is talk of civilian guns. How often does someone go try shoot up a police station? Only really happens in movies. Someone who wants to murder a bunch of people with a gun attacks only the defenceless or unsuspecting anyway, even if everyone in Vegas had a gun all those people would still have been killed and the rest injured. If anything more people would have been injured as nobody would know who the shooter is. Leave combat to the professionals, owning a gun doesn't make you Rambo. |

The police? They resolve these situations anyway, people who own guns act like they'll be the hero but when it comes down to it they're still just a civilian and they'll freak out, discounting the likes of veterans who've experienced combat. Guns clearly don't fix anything and they're clearly the problem, I live right near a store that sells shotguns and rifles. The last time someone got shot around was an accident during a military exercise and everyone was freaked out by just one gun related death. |

Yes, but your standard police officers shouldn't be carrying guns either. NOT EVERYONE HAS TO HAVE GUNS. |

Most of the time I'd say no, there's a gun and lack of empathy problem in the US. Whenever something bad happens people whip out a "problem solver" like if someones dog growls at a cop or nibbles at their ankle they just f***ing shoot it like it could actually kill them. Guns are used way too casually, people barley even try to resolve situations without them. Cops seem encouraged to shoot people just because it's easier. |

Alright so we can agree that there’s some corruption in the government. Yet you’re willing to submit to their protection. |

Much better to submit to the protection of a group that consists mostly of fine, hard-working people than to operate on some kind of vigilante system, to be honest. Edited by Yu Narukami, Feb 28 2018, 11:10 PM.
