My Dear Melancholy,

Florida Highschool Shooting

What we know so far:

17 people were killed, according to officials, both inside and outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida
The shooting started around 2:30 p.m. ET on Wednesday as the fire alarm sounded
A suspect, Nikolas Cruz, 19, a former Douglas High student believed to have been armed with a semiautomatic rifle and multiple magazines, is in custody
Authorities initially spelled Cruz's first name as "Nikolaus" but later corrected the spelling. He was taken into custody off campus about an hour after he "committed this horrific, detestable act," said Israel, who said investigators were reviewing social media postings that he described as "very disturbing."

Eddie Bonilla, a senior, told NBC Miami that Cruz was "a little bit off" and "troubled."

Cruz used to show off his guns, brag about shooting them "for fun" and "threatened to bring the guns to school multiple times," he said, adding that students "threw jokes around that he'd be the one to shoot up the school."

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – Police say no one was injured after responding to a shots fired complaint at Virginia Union University Wednesday afternoon. VUU and Richmond Police responded to the scene.

Earlier reports suggested one person had been shot in the leg. Police confirmed no one was shot, however, adding that there is no evidence to support someone was struck by gunfire.

The incident occurred just after 4 p.m

A terrible day. Especially the Florida one. Many meida outlets posted uncensored footage of the shooting with kids screaming and being scared

Flashy Thing!

I didn't hear about the Virginia one, it was likely overshadowed by what happened in Florida. We have quite the struggle with figuring out our gun laws here in the U.S. Every school shooting is precipitated with discussions about greater restrictions on access to guns or the need for more guns in the right hands. Ultimately, its just a bunch of people saying arguing over "what if" scenarios. The way the U.S. currently is, there is just an inherent risk of [gun] violence.

Future generations need to home school their kids. The public school system is broken beyond fixing.

Wait Pyrus. Would you home school your kids for safety or better scores?

Ontopic: Another big tragedy. Really hope the best for their family and friends.
Don't think these shooting are going to change anything. The previous ones didn't either. School shootings are a reality that we're going to have to live with occasionally.

Plenty of other countries manage to have kids go to school without being shot. It's not the school system, it's the guns. America just seems to have weighed up guns against dead kids and decided which one they care more about.

The US can't even begin to even talk about guns in a serious way because there's always that period after an incident like that where ''it's inappropriate to talk about gun control'' and ''it's inappropriate to politicise this tragedy''. Unfortunately, before one could argue that this period is over, there's another mass shooting, where the same arguments are made. People are expected to be in a perpetual state of mourning and it's seemingly never appropriate to talk about gun control at any time.

It's disgusting that I (and a lot of Americans) have simply become numb to this sort of news. This is seemingly just an everyday occurence. And the problem with this isn't so much the public school system, it's the government itself being unwilling to do f*** all anything while children literally get f***ing slaughtered. If Sandy Hook didn't change minds, we're never going to.

58 people were killed in Las Vegas. Over 800 were injured in various non-lifethreatening ways, about half of whixh were by some form of gunshot wound. That didn't change anything either.

Marco Rubio, the Republican Senator for Florida made a tweet about his tbis is a day you pray never comes.

He has also profited from the NRA's lobbying to the tune of $3.1+ million to date.

Make no mistake, those politicians who can't find the balls to stand up to the epidemic this has become are invariably in hock to the NRA by thousands (if not millions) of dollars in various fashions.

I always get so angry when politicians say: let's not politicize the issue.
Everytime there's a school shooting republicans are saying: Oh such a tragedy, let's not politicize the issue.
Everytime there's a terrorist attack committed by a Muslim democrats are saying: Oh such a tragedy, let's not politicize the issue.

What the f*** are you talking about!?
There's a serious problem and you're saying not to involve the system that is entirely designed to solve our problems!?
No, I say LET'S Politicize the issue, otherwise it'll just happen again. These people are putting us in a vicious circle.

f***ing cowards, all of them.

When is the right time to politicise an issue, if not when it presents itself?

"I am the bone of my sword."

You all notice how all the countries with proper gun control laws have the least amount of issues because of them? Some may call this a shocking revelation but anyone with half a brain cell would just call it common sense. This is an entire joke and the politicians would rather soak their greedy hands than actually make a damn difference.

Hell, nobody's even telling you to get rid of guns. This isn't, give all the guns to everyone or take every single gun including an airsoft gun away. Although if we have to choose between the two, I'd say screw all your guns, hand them over and you can take your 2nd Amendment and shove it straight up your a***.Seriously, what a f***ed up country I have to live in. There are dozens upon dozens of examples of countries whose stricter gun laws have helped them. There are examples of countries with lenient gun control that don't have this problem because of their societal upbringing.

If this s*** country that I unfortunately have to live in can't have the balls to actually help its citizens then why have any laws at all? Let's get rid of all laws, and we'll just go by the honor system. Seriously what is this joke?

Stone me but i think that guns should not that be easily accessible. I mean if i am a usa citizen i can buy a semi automat just as easily as i buy a beer at the local store.

Every time its happening the citizens the authorities talk about gun law and yet still they just can not fckin change that law or at least regulate it so not every other brokenhearted sociopath madman could actually buy a fckin cannon whenever he wants to.

There is only one solution to this. And that is the prohibition of free gun keeping. You know you dont actually have to have a gun whenever you are on the streets. Its not fckin gta is it ?

But thats all bulls*** am i right ?

Gun companies will never ever let this to happen. They have a nice firm of grip of the actual usa regime thus that gun law will never be regulated.

Not even if every day a school massacre would happen.

And thaz is sad. Really
