Instead of making a separate thread for each PPV, just making a general wrestling thread here. That way smaller shows like RAW and SmackDown can be discussed as well without having to make a pointless thread for it. Every promotion can be discussed: WWE, NJPW, ROH, iMPACT, etc. So yeah, Just finished watching The New Beginning in Osaka. Good show, especially recommend watching Will Ospreay vs Hiromu Takahashi. Other title matches were good too, especially Okada v SANADA. This Kitamura match was probably my least favorite of the bunch. Don't get why you're putting a young guy with all these legends that can barely go anymore if you want to show how great he is. Tenzan, Nagata, Nakanishi can't really show you how good Kitamura is. Hope his last match of the bunch will be against a better opponent. I mean Jay White, Juice Robinson, Michael Elgin those were good opponent that really showed you what Kitamura was all about. Even if you want to put him up against a legend, why not go for someone who can still kinda go like Jushin Thunder Liger? Also big reveal: Spoiler: click to toggle

I see your point, but I disagree about Nagata. Dude can still wrestle his a*** off. I'm still working my way through the New Beginning shows. I cherry picked a few matches from the first show. The Kitamura/Elgin match....happened? Didn't do a lot for me. The Elite/White&R3K match was enjoyable and did what it set out to do by making me excited for the two matches on the second show. Tanahashi/Suzuki was really good, definitely my favourite Suzuki match that I've seen (which is not many because I've never been a big fan). Tanahashi is such a great wrestler that it's hard for him to have a subpar match (looking at you Jay White). I watched quite a few matches from the DDT Grand Prix tournament, mainly because it had two of my favourite wrestlers, Mike Bailey & Jiro Kuroshio (if you've never seen this guy, I'd recommend going out of your way to do so, he oozes charisma and has the wrestling skills to boot, I'd be surprised if he doesn't become a big name). It had some great wrestling and put a couple of guys on my radar who I hadn't seen before. I'll definitely be popping in now and again to watch the odd show of theirs. |

Who do y'all think is the best candidate to face off against Lesnar for the Universal Championship? It could go in several ways in my opinion. Lesnar can put over the likes of up-and-coming main roster stars like Finn Balor and Braun Strowman or Reigns could face off against him which has been highly speculated or John Cena could break Ric Flair's record by capturing his 17th world title, which would make history. |

Who I think is best and who I think actually will are two different questions. For the latter, I just can't see past Reigns. They've been waiting to pull the trigger on it for a long, long time and all the current booking signs point that way. As for best, I'm not sure. Maybe Braun, although it's arguable whether he could carry the title. Balor would be a good choice too, and they clearly think enough of him to have put it on him once before. Idk whether they'd be willing to have him beat Lesnar though, they'd probably prefer that to go to a bigger guy. |

in WWE's eyes? Probably Roman Reigns. Lesnar has built up such a status with the belt and carried it so highly that if they continue like this, they might create the same prestige that the IWGP Heavyweight Championship carries. Roman Reigns getting the belt might ruin that potential but I think it's what Vince really wants to do. If you ask me, they should give it to a guy that could really be elevated to a new level because of it. I would personally go for Samoa Joe or Finn Bálor. Perhaps Braun Strowman. In any case, keep the prestige it has now, average reign of a year should be the norm, don't throw it all over the place. In any case, don't think Lesnar should lose the belt for a while, definitely keep it post-mania. |

I really want to like Will Ospreay. I appreciate his in-ring skills, even if it can get slightly too flippy, but I just can not get past his stupid facial expressions and over the top screaming whenever he's trying to sell something. It really takes away from my enjoyment of his matches, which is a shame because they're usually very good, and often better. |

No Gargano-Ciampa feud? This is either a really weird choice, or Ciampa is also going to the main roster, or this is some really long term booking. Also Tag-Team Classic coming back, should be great. |

Just got back from watching a live wrestling event in my hometown. It's a company called 5 Star Wrestling. It was a really fun experience. I've been to see live wrestling once before, but I was with somebody who wasn't fully invested so didn't get to immerse myself in the chants and stuff. This time I went with my cousins and we were all involved with the chanting and cheering and it was really fun. Rey Mysterio and Rob van Dam were there. Mysterio looked great and they both got loud reactions. I was also really impressed with how RVD & Mysterio took out a lot of time to go around to every kid along the barricades and give out high fives and take photos, considering how they must do that at every event they wrestle in. For two guys who have been wrestling over 20 years, that's a really kind thing to. Also, I was really impressed with Moose. He looked great and had strong crowd reactions. It's a shame WWE won't hire him because of an arrest back in 2009 because I think he's got a lot of potential. |

Only 4 matches announced for Elimination Chamber. That's not a bad thing necessarily. I'm just not really excited for any of the matches. Woken Matt vs Bray just depresses me, such wasted talent. The seven man elimination chamber match is just a laughable attempt by WWE to "make history." |

I rarely get invested in an Ospreay match like I would a Naito or a Tanahashi match. There's just something missing there for me. He's a phenomenal athlete though, I'll give him that. |

New Japan Cup bracket revealed. First round matches look like this: Michael Elgin VS Tomohiro Ishii Juice Robinson VS Yujiro Takahashi Hiroshi Tanahashi VS Taichi Bad Luck Fale VS Lance Archer YOSHI-HASHI VS Kota Ibushi Tetsuya Naito VS Zack Sabre Jr. Toru Yano VS Davey Boy Smith Jr. Chuckie T. VS SANADA Every day we seem to be getting about 2 Cup matches along with a bunch of typical New Japan multi-man tag matches. Usually nothing very noteworthy, just factions taking each other on. 2 interesting things I noticed is that Kitamura will still be fighting in tag matches, even though the announcers have been saying he's supposed to go on excursion after his 7-match trial, which will be over by this point. Also quite often we're going to see Kota Ibushi tagging alongside Bullet Club members and Kenny Omega won't be there. On day 1 he's in a tag match with Chase Owens against Okada and YOSHI-HASHI. On day 2 he's in an 8-man match along with Chase Owens, HIKULEO and Yujiro Takahashi against Chuckie T., YOSHI-HASHI, Goto and Okada. And on day 4 he's tagging with Chase Owens again against Okada and Ishii. Lastly 3 matches are confirmed so far for Strong Style Evolved. Golden☆Lovers VS The Young Bucks Jay White VS Hangman Page for the IWGP United States Heavyweight Championship Jushin Thunder Liger VS Rey Mysterio |

Some good names in the New Japan Cup. Naito/ZSJ & Elgin/Ishii look like the highlights of the first round and, if it happens, I'm all in on Ibushi/Naito in the semi-finals (although Ibushi/ZSJ would be good as well, if they wanna keep Ibushi/Naito for a bigger match). |

First round definitely Naito/ZSJ and Elgin/Ishii as the biggest matches. Looks like SANADA is gonna make it to the semis, Naito/SANADA might be an interesting semis match is Naito can overcome Ibushi in the quarter finals. I think we're getting a Tanahashi-Naito final. Absolutely lovely! Predictions: R1: Ishii Juice Tanahashi Fale Ibushi Naito DBSJ SANADA QFs: Ishii Tanahashi Naito SANADA SFs: Tanahashi Naito Winner: Naito |
