If it all was scrapped, wouldn't it open up more jobs too? Or at least more opportunities for working hours.

I don't know how it is in bigger towns (or other countries) but at home and the town nearby it's the same post officer Monday-Saturday. So I mean, it is nice for them to have at least one day off. I'm fine with not getting posts (mail in the U.S.) on Sundays. It gives people who work a demanding job a guaranteed day off to relax and do whatever.
