I know this isn't really the place for celebrity talk, but I feel like the context calls for it. Amber Heard has in the past, when she was splitting from him, gone out in public criticizing Johnny Depp for domestic violence. I can't be bothered to look up sources right now, so just google their names together and you'll find plenty of articles on it. Now, I am conflicted on this because actors, celebrities in general in fact, are supposed to be role models. Johnny Depp happens to be one of my favorite actors and I am not entirely sure I fully believe Amber Heard's accusations. From what I've read and heard, she's seems like a bit of an unstable person. Obviously I don't know her so I can't possibly know this for sure, but we all have hunches. I can't see Johnny Depp being a violent man in any way and many people's quotes support this idea. In light of the new Fantastic Beasts movie coming out and Johnny Depp being cast in it, I feel like I want to discuss this topic further and get more opinions. If you have no opinion on the matter, please move on and don't confuse the thread. |

From what I remember randomly reading on the newspaper several months ago, Depp's exadministrators confirmed Amber's claims of abuse were true. I'm not sure them being exadministrators makes their word trustworthy, but I'm not sure why they'd be lying either, other than to spite Depp. |
Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?! Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power. | |

You say you can't imagine him being a violent man in any way, but he's been arrested for assaulting a security guard. Granted that was a long time ago, but that's an example of him being violent. I have no opinion on this. He may or may not have done it, I don't really care enough to worry whether he did it or not. If he did, he's a dick, if he didn't, she's a dick for falsely accusing him. |

I don't believe it's entirely true but it's clear their relationship had problems, I feel like at most maybe he assaulted her but I don't think he truly abused her. The photo's she posted and what she described happening don't really match. She said he threw a phone at her "like a baseball player" yet the damage was pretty minimal, she also said he grabbed her by the hair and was hitting her face. Which just doesn't appear to be true unless her skin is made of steel. She sounds like a massive b*** going by what many people say about her and has accused people of this before but was proved to be lying I believe, she has also done it to other partners herself so I have a hard time believing what she says. Moreover Depp's ex partners say he was never like that with them, typically if someone is abusive you can trace it back, it doesn't often just start out of nowhere. If he really did it his exes would probably have plenty stories to tell. Not saying it's impossible, maybe I'm a little bias towards Depp but still I don't see enough information on her side that really supports what she says. Still, Johnny had just recently lost his mother at the time and I notice that almost never factors in to the story. Many people have said Amber is kind of an a***** in general and wasn't very supportive about it, and that their relationship was kind of toxic anyway, that they would constantly tease and berate each other. So I can see how Johnny could have been pushed over the edge but I also don't see how one could entirely blame him if Amber really is like that. If he hit her that was an a***** thing to do but given the circumstances I don't see why his career or even his life should be destroyed and I especially don't see how one could infer that he's a truly abusive partner. |

Yeah, that's a good point. He may just be violent if pushed to it.
He had lost his mother and he was drinking heavily at the time. Maybe he has some sort of alcohol problem, although you can't entirely blame it on that. They do say alcohol brings out your true self, for good or for worse, but I'm not sure that's entirely true. Alcohol can also make you snap more easily, uncharacteristically even. Most of his family has said he's not a violent man by nature and hasn't done anything to hurt them physically. He seems like a genuinely caring person in interviews and I see no reason why that has to be fake, especially considering his daughter had some sort of illness back when he was filming Sweeney Todd. |

Yeah, I don't buy anything but an isolated incident. Makes complete sense he'd be low after his mothers death, throw alcohol in to that and anything can happen. Otherwise it makes no sense for nobody to notice he's abusive. Not entirely the same but like Harvey Weinstein, he got away with it for years but people knew damn well what he was like "If Harvey Weinstein invites you to a party, don't go" It's extremely uncommon for someone to suddenly become abusive out of nowhere. |
