Let's say today's technology was at the peak in other decades, what would it be like? How would coverage be? Would anything change?

Let's do these decades, but you can elaborate further with other decades aswell:

1860s
1910s
1920s
1930s-1940s
1960s
1990s

World War II for example. What would that have been like with internet, cell phones, modern time weaponry?

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

With modern technology, there's a good chance civilisation would have ended there and then. Look at the damage inflicted in World War II with the weaponry from that time. I can only imagine it would be many, many times worse with modern weaponry.

Also, this is a bit of a strange question because surely having modern technology during those times would mean those times would be drastically different. The major events from those times most likely wouldn't have happened and would have been replaced by different ones. Lifestyles from the times would be drastically different etc.

"Course. Doing better next time. That's what life is."

Crazy Awesome Legend

WW2 might not have happened if they'd had internet. I'm fairly sure The Nazis didn't get in power democratically and with social media their propaganda wouldn't have worked. The Nazis wouldn't have been able to get away with what they were doing to the Jews and the allies wouldn't have been able to act as though they didn't know about it. I'm basically saying I don't think the German people would have stood for it if they were fully aware of what was happening.

As for the other dates.

1860. We wouldn't have had an American civil war because the better technology would allow the southern economy to better compete with the north.

1910s. Titanic wouldn't have sunk. WW1 would have still happened but the Germans, Austrians and Turks would be defeated easily against the combined forces of France, Russia and the UK. The influenza outbreak would be better contained. The communist revolution might not have happened if the war had ended quickly.

1920s. Prohibition would still be in effect. Except the police would be much better equipped to deal with the gangsters. The wall street crash might have been worse as more people would have credit cards and access to loans/mortgages. Plus there's more consumer goods to get into debt purchasing.

1930s. Japan attempts to invade Manchuria but is repelled and defeated by a modern Chinese army. The fascists fail to gain power in Italy because everyone now knows that their eugenics based arguments are bulls***. As such they do not invade Abyssinia.

1960s. The USA still invades Vietnam only the war doesn't last very long due to mass media revealing to people how terrible the idea was far earlier. JFK is not assassinated because modern surveillance and security is able to catch Lee Harvey Oswald before he can act.

1990s. No idea. Not sure much would change at all here.
