I think one is considered American English and the other UK, correct me if I'm wrong though. Some examples... Favorite Favourite Gray Grey Color Colour Molding Moulding All are acceptably correct, but the first ones for each word are the ones we typically use and are taught(in America). So, what's up with all of this? Why did we change so much? Do things like these make learning the English language harder for people? |

Kind of, but it's not really important considering either spelling works just fine. |

As far as I was aware, the changes in American spellings are mainly to make words easier to spell. |

You mean for non-native speakers? Not really. It's just that in any exams (eq for the Cambridge certificate) or in any formal situations, mixing American and British is frowned upon and even sanctioned. You must pick one and stick with it. |

I wasn't talking about colloquial language. I was talking about examinations and such. In a Cambridge exam, for example, it'd lower your score. And the commission is always constituted of English professors. |
