Crazy Awesome Legend

I've been watching how they do things at JCB and they use laser cutters to cut through thick sheets of metal. My question is, why can't they adapt this technology for guns?

We already spend a ridiculous amount of money on military. I'd imagine it being a lot more expensive if we we were mass producing laser guns

We have lasers deployed militaristically in anti-missile defenses. The buggest issue is power requirements.

Laser weaponry is so hard to make right now because you need plugged into a nuclear powered warship or tied into a country's power supply to properly fuel the laser's use. Until we can miniaturize the power sources or make more efficient power sources that are naturally small, laser guns ain't happening.

For my money, I'm betting on gauss weaponry getting miniaturized first.

Yeah, we most likely can have them, but it's not cost effective. The difference in deadliness probably isn't enough to justify what I imagine is a lot more expensive to manufacture.

"Next time?"
"Course. Doing better next time. That's what life is."
