I've really grown to like this one. At first i was a little worried because of the lack of 'battle sequences'.

But i really like how they re-invented the concept of 'battle' in this one. Constantly there are ingenious battles going on, but in such a subtle way.

It's always about thinking, no raw power, although the Death Note itself has a slight OP-aspect, i still think it's kinda cool.

The animation is great too, like always by Madhouse, i am now at epsiode 20 and no, no complaining at the least, i am really enjoying this one.

I haven't seen the movie (non-anime) but i have seen some rather critical reviews on it. It wouldn't be the same level.

More Death Note-lovers here?

Thala na Gethu!

Manga is far superior, though anime's epic musical score is always a plus

I've had similar prob. The "mind battle" aspect between L & Kira was fine, but I personally find the final leg of DN to be terrific. I wish a little humor & more likable characters were added to make it rivetting

I might try the manga if it's superior

Personally I like the anime over the manga, the portrayal of Light Yagami is actually a bit different and I like the way they have him in the anime better. Definitely one of my favorite series though. If you enjoy it then I would reccomend checking out Code Geass, that's actually what my avatar and signature are from. Anyone who's seen both of those series will reccomend one if you've watched the other. If you also look up anime similar to Death Note, Code Geass would be the first one to pop up. Death Note is probably my fourth favorite anime, but Code Geass is my second, it's very good.
