That Feeling of Not Belonging

Do you have, sometimes, a general feeling of not belonging in a place? This can be something as simple as a forum, a workplace or as part of a group of friends. It can also be more broad like a city, country or even the world. That last one borders on depression and suicidal thoughts though so let's stray away from serious discussions like that.

Well, do you?

I do. Fairly often and in multiple different areas of life. But that links in with depression and other stuff.

The country.

I don't know how to describe it, but man life is boring there. Not a whole lot of things to do, too corrupt, don't have the same luxuries developed countries do, incapable government and a plethora of other problems.

Crazy Awesome Legend

I always feel like I'm on the outside looking in no matter who I socialise with, even when I'm with other Timelords or autistic people.

Same as Mitas, though depression comes in very rarely and goes away rather quickly.

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

What i think is hypocrite sometimes in society: you aren't alowed to just feel s***ty now and then.

You know ... the typical question people say to you when they've not seen you for a while: how are you?
You are basically expected to say 'i'm fine' with that.

There is nothing wrong with a lousy day or period now and then. That makes us human. It just does not seem accepted from a standpoint of (mostly mainstream) society, which is absolute bulls*** in my opinion.

I think it's perfectly reasonable to answer 'how are you?' with 'eh, not great', or something along those lines. I've heard people do it many times, and had people answer that way to me. I don't do it myself because I usually give the blanket 'yeah, not bad', but that's not because I feel like I couldn't be truthful.

So you don't agree there is a 'we-all-have-to-be-happy'-culture?

I do there think there is. I think people would be able to talk about certain negative aspects more open if this were more a culture of openmindedness about these things.

I definitely do not agree there's a 'we all have to be happy' culture. People are protesting all over the shop, the internet is filled with opinion pieces filled with negativity, comment sections are rife with displeasure. Then there's the fact that, in my world at least, plenty of people are open with how they feel. Might be we just run in different circles.

This is my first time hearing about this "we-all-have-to-be-happy-culture".

I didn't meant the 'we-all-have-to-be-happy-culture' literary. Because a lot of people are moaning all the time, that's true.

I more meant it as a 'Keeping Up Appearances'. If your boss finds out you might have personal issues, will he truely care and be concerned about you or will he be more concerned about the fact he might have a less productive employee? You know that a*** well and how are you going to act?

People play roles all the time in daily life. I like authentic people, people who just are the way they are.
