Will it ever be possible to move the planet?

Crazy Awesome Legend

I was thinking about how the sun is going to turn red giant and swallow the Earth and I thought what a sad end that would be. All the hundreds of millions of years of life and history just vaporised away. So will it ever be possible to move the Earth into a safer position from the sun?

Also, perhaps we might be able to either restore the sun to it's normal self or maybe create a new one once it's gone?

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

If we moved the Earth then we would die.

If i was granted one wish before the lights went out: give me one look into eternity, how human species will evolve. Will we travel to the stars one day or will we rather kill our own species? I don't think the sun will kill us.

Well, our sun isn't the kind to die by way of supernova, so that means we'll have plenty of time to planet hop before it reaches the limits of where we can go in the solar system. I think we'd have better luck moving off to a whole different planet than we would actually moving the Earth.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

Would it really be a sad end though? You basically just explained what happens to all of us: a lifetime of history and memories extinguished at the very end. I wouldn't say it's sad, it's just the way of things.

Regarding the topic, I have no idea. I second Gothic's opinion that it'd probably make more sense to relocate to a different planet than relocate our own one.

"Course. Doing better next time. That's what life is."

We're cool for another several billions of years...

On this matter. We should worry first about immediate dangers, like climate changes, amounts of CO2 in the atmosphere, an asteroid showing up uninvited, you know, usual stuff...
