You said you expected Vegeta to be like that. You're only inferring that he should behave like that, but that change in character isn't actually shown until Super.

That might have something to do with the fact that Vegeta's character arc was finished by the series's end. You can't just attribute Vegeta's growth to Super when the growth happens in the Majin Boo arc. What's different between the Vegeta after Boo's defeat and the Vegeta we see in Super, aside from the minor out of character moments in Super? Nothing.

I'd also like to add this scene from GT

Now I don't remember Super Vegeta doing anything like this in terms of his relationship with Goku.

What do you mean? They were bunk buddies in the RF saga lol. And they trained for three years with each other in the ROSAT

Seriously though you think vegeta is still always angry at goku in Super? I don't get that impression at all

I think the big takeaway from that scene is Vegeta having a truly hearty laugh at Goku's innocent nature.

"I am the bone of my sword."

Super Vegeta has basically shown no friendliness to Goku beyond maybe comradery as fighters. Everytime Goku gets stronger or gets some new power, Vegeta is visibly upset and feels the need to participate. Look what happened with "Ultra Instinct." The first things out of Vegeta's mouth is ordering Goku how it happened. He literally attacks Goku so he can fight Freeza at one point. When Goku gets shot in the heart, Vegeta berates him for it.

There never feels like there's a time where Super Vegeta treats Goku as a friend but always as a means to an end. That means being, getting stronger and making sure Goku's not too far ahead of him at the least.

I can't picture GT Vegeta purposely attacking Goku...for any reason.

He literally drops the "Tell me how you did that" thing to rush to Goku's defense when Ribrianne comes in.

To be fair GT is 15 years after buu saga. Super is only a few years after buu saga

To be fair GT is 15 years after Z. Super is only a few years after buu saga
5 years according to the GT guidebook. Or 10 years according to the dub. Never heard 15 before.

A lot of the time in Super to me, Vegeta seems like an exasperated older brother.

They are still rivals remember and Vegeta will be frustrated when his annoying little brother keeps being favourited. Vegeta is the smarter of the two and people still seem to think every thing that falls out of Vegeta's mouth is exactly what he thinks.

Vegeta may have berated Goku for losing to Beerus but he also caught him to stop him crashing through the ground. Vegeta is competitive and that not only drives himself to get stronger but it makes Goku stronger too. Super keeps the part of Vegeta who doesn't like showing affection whilst also being a better person. That way you still get the 'antihero' vibe whilst also the developments from the Boo saga.

It is jarring sometimes though and I think it's a lot to do with having multiple writers.

The main thing is that Super kept Vegeta's hair the same so Super > GT

Super is so much better than GT its not even close anymore. Beerus, Golden Frieza, Hit, GOKU BLACK, & Jiren are all better than anything GT offered. The only good thing GT offered was Omega Shenron.

Also Vegeta and Goku are 100x better in Super than they were in GT.

The new SSJ forms in Super have been better than SSJ4

Future Trunks was awesome to have back

I could go on and on

A lot of people like myself still really like ssj4

I do like ssjb, ssjr, and ultra instinct though too. Ssjg grew on me a lot too

I can understand liking vegeta more in Super but goku, at least in the Super anime, is just too much of a fighting machine sometimes. I really liked kid goku in GT though
