As in, do you think any have ever faked either in order to bring attention to the issue and normalize it? Not implying they all do by any means just in general do you think anyone has faked it to that end? To clarify, not for personal attention but to make people come around to the idea that people of a certain group are "normal" like them. More relevant to being transgender these days of course. |

Idk about transgenders but I definitely think celebrities use their fame to spread their political views in general. I think that's pretty obvious

Pretty sure Meghan Fox, when she was younger said she was bi or gay to get more attention/fame. |

Like who? I can't see why anyone would fake that. Megan Fox could still be bi... |

Honestly, I don't care. Celebrities are always saying stupid things to get favor from others, I try not to pay attention.

No I mean more along the lines of pretending they are a certain way in order to get people to accept a certain thing. Like how Eddie Izzard came out as transgender, not that he did but someone with a platform like his could just say "f*** it" and proclaim that and then bigots are forced to confront the idea that they've enjoyed and loved the works of one of "Them", if that makes sense. I can see someone making that sort of sacrifice to their personal lives in order to try challenge social perceptions. Not that it'd necessarily be a good thing, if they're not actually an LGBT person. |
