Yeah ok, stop trying to look open-minded. Why would you want to be wrong about something, that makes no sense.

Some people would prefer to be correct than right.

And there is a difference.
A Shadow is merely Darkness in the presence of Light

I don't think I've seen/heard anyone say that before.

Something my grandmother used to say so either it is an old saying or a personal one.
A Shadow is merely Darkness in the presence of Light

No one wants to be wrong but I'd rather be shown that I'm wrong when I am than continue to be wrong in the future. If that makes sense? it doesn't feel great initially when someone shows you that you've been parroting incorrect information but it's better learning that than not.

I'm pretty glad I don't think the way I used to about a whole range of topics I was ignorant about.

I don't think anyone said that, but I guess I understand what you mean. Well, I think I quoted this before, but it's my favorite. 'The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing.' (Socrates) Meaning that even if you think you're right, true intelligence is keeping an eye open for other perspectives or information, to either complete, upgrade or even change your belief. Or, ignore it if it's proved to be inaccurate. But having yourself a strong, documented point of view and dismiss or act hostile towards an opposite one that's equal or even better than yours, it's only arrogance.

Tl;dr: Humankind would have never evolved if everyone kept their heads in their asses with their own opinions.

If I'm wrong, I would like someone to let me know otherwise I'll never learn. Now this becomes complicated when subjective topics are discussed...such as determining the correct way to manage a country. No one can be absolutely right unless they could see the future and specific force action or inaction by their opposition.

I'm the same way. I'm not a stubborn man when it comes to facts.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

I don't think anybody likes to be proven wrong. I imagine by like they mean they're happy to be proven wrong and more than willing to keep their view and opinion flexible if they learn something they had previously not known.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I see nothing bad about enjoying being proven wrong when you are indeed wrong.

You might have been lead to believe something pretty backwards due to how you were raised, like how women are less intelligent than men or something and then you might be glad that someone proves you wrong and you stop believing something so stupid.

It's easy to feel correct but it's not as easy to be correct. Sticking to your guns and being adamant that you're absolutely right about everything isn't admirable at all because nobody is ever right about everything, you will always get some things wrong and being shown that you're wrong is always a good thing.

Completely agree with this, and the general consensus in the topic. I'm wrong a lot, so I'll never be the most intelligent guy, but I like being set in the right direction.

It depends on what you're talking about, and I feel like you're talking about politics, which can be based mostly on opinion.

I and many others on this forum are open to being proven wrong. I used to be a Christian, and now I'm an atheist, having admitted that my stance a number of years ago was wrong. I used to be leaning more toward the left and a bit of a SJW at times; now I'm a centrist and struggle with the term feminism. There is always room for me to admit when I'm wrong, but it's usually a personal process, not something that I will suddenly admit to the very next post in a thread. Because that isn't usually how it works. It takes a lot of time. Unless I'm just wrong on a single fact or something. I'll admit that right away when I or someone else catches it.

These deeply-ingrained ideas, like religion or a political stance, take a lot of time to evolve. "I was wrong, and I actually like Donald Trump now" could take months or years to admit to because the personal thought process takes longer. Something like "oh, I was wrong, that fact about Donald Trump isn't actually true" would easily be admitted the very next post.
