Premier League clubs have voted to have the transfer window close before the first game of the season. I've always felt that this should be the case. Players are kept out of the lineup because of transfer speculation e.g. Coutinho, Sanchez, teams panic buy after bad starts which increases the chance of bad business, and it just makes sense to have your full team ready before the season kicks off.

I can argue against it by saying pre-season isn't enough and that clubs need an indicator of what they need after playing 2 matches of the season.

This feels like it's just gonna create more mess considering it's only english clubs who have agreed. If there's gonna be a shortened transfer window it needs to be global, not just for one nation.

I see your point and think it's a fair one, although 15 clubs voted in favour so most clubs obviously disagree.

I guess one way to counter the other windows closing later would be having the window closed for both buying and selling, which would make sense.

I was gonna counter that argument but considering some countries play March-November instead of August-May, I think that counter-argument would fall flat.
