I'm not surprised tbh. But in actuality, it is offensive, to the native people. You ask an outsider like yourself and you don't think it's wrong ..okay You ask native people if it's offensive to them and they will say yes... And I already explained why it is to you, and if you can't see that then okay. |

Why so passive-aggressive? And how do you know whether I have "Native American heritage" or not? |

Even if you did, I doubt you celebrate the culture and festivities and think yourself as native regardless if you are actually native. The actual people who have suffered and generations onwards who are strongly native have been wronged. |

Should look further in the link you are posting it's some what flawed... I'm not even saying cultural appropriation is a 100% a thing but that it is to a degree. There are legit reasons to be offended and some are not. Just cause a lot of people get sensitive over a lot of things doesn't make part of it not wrong. Don't talk about me, my character or as if you know me you don't, so stop. Ofg, you are being lazy. Representing another culture in the manner the football team is doing is just weird. They have no affiliation or ties to the name/logo etc... so why represent it, it puts off the image that they too have that history/culture etc. when they clearly dont. Do you guys even know what "Red Skin" means? Edited by Havoc_Wreaker, Sep 8 2017, 12:51 AM.

Yes, I know what red skin means. No, I am not offended. Do other people have a right to be offended? Sure. But when you're insinuating that hordes of Native Americans are instantaneously triggered every time they see or hear of the Washington Redskins, I really don't think you're giving them enough credit. They aren't irrational, mindless drones. They are people. Some may be offended, but that in no way validates the claim that cultural appropriation is a thing that we should actually be concerned about. Let the easily offended be offended. They aren't harming anyone but themselves. I'm being lazy or ignorant? How dare you talk about my character in such a manner! Edited by Doggo Champion 2k17, Sep 8 2017, 12:47 AM.

I'll agree with that. Not every native person is gonna be offended obviously but that is just life. Same could be said about other derogatory terms, not everyone is gonna is offended. I have gay friends and most aren't too bothered how the word gay is used, even out of context but again that is life. But I do think naturally and at its core that "Redskin" is offensive. You did appear to be lazy in you questioning and limited one line resposnses...ill retract the ignorant tho. Edited by Havoc_Wreaker, Sep 8 2017, 12:51 AM.

And those are your thoughts and feelings. There's no need to impose them on others or speak for an entire group of people. If you're offended by the term redskin, so be it. You can petition for the Redskins to change their name and mascot. I know that there have been petitions for that very reason in the past. I wouldn't call it lazy to respond with questions or one-liners; I would call it not being given enough information or intelligent discourse from the opposition to formulate a decent response. |

Who's being passive aggressive now? I'm not imposing my opinion on anyone, I even stated earlier you think what you want(read above). But it's best not to throw random statements and see if it sticks to the wall. You come off as a conspiracy theorist which I can't bother to take you seriously. I mean buzzfeed really... smh. And Ironically you gave the least information from the start and there was nothing to discuss till I brought more info to the discussion |

Not me.
A conspiracy theorist? I mean, really...? smh You still haven't countered any of my previous claims, so I'm not sure where you get off acting like I'm the idiot in the room. I stand by my statement that Buzzfeed perpetuates this nonsense. They perpetuate a plethora of nonsense. You'd be hard-pressed to counter those statements.
I think it might be wise to look at the context here. I wasn't looking to start a debate, hence why I kept it simple. You came at me, and I retaliated, so this has since spiraled into something resembling a debate. So cool, fair enough. It's a debate now. Where are your counter arguments? |

You said there was no intelligent information when there was clearly some points made, to the discussion. And yes a conspiracy theorist BuzzFeed is garbage bringing them is just ridiculous. They may perpetuate it never said they didn't, just why bring them in a discussion? Buzzfeed talks about everything slightly controversial. Fair enough, you weren't looking for a debate but you came off strong saying it's not a thing when technically cultural appropriation is a thing, whether you believe it has some merit, is another discussion which we are having. And what points am I to counter? |

Is the branding of the Washington Redskins cultural appropriation? I don't think it falls under the definition. It's more just derogatory/bordering on racism (if not actually racist considering the term 'redskin'). |
