I was expecting it to be crappy but honestly I liked it a lot. Who else saw it? Was anyone else surprisingly into it?

Yes it was very different from the original series but...

I think it's worth a watch imo. Don't let yourself get upset with the accuracy. I think in it's own right not bad.

Netflix filming is great too

William dafoe's ryuk was really good too. Ryuk in general was done really well actually

Yes it was the story was done very differently and it was very Americanized but putting the anime and manga aside, I personally has no problem with it

This being said. I don't like the girl character that's with him that much. And I also thought that it felt rushed sometimes

Overall a solid 8.5/10

I'm not going to read your full post until I watch it. But I've heard from everyone except you that it was complete crap lol. I'll have to decide for myself, I heard that there may be a sequel.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

I'm not taking much stock in all the people saying it's s*** because people trashed Ghost In The Shell and it was decent, massively outdated so kinda generic but it wasn't the horrible film people made it out to be.

I expect a lot of the hatred towards this is "Muh whitewashings!" again.

Though I have heard of some weird things in the movie that do sound dumb but what's the point in adapting it for a Western audience if you're going to keep it exactly the same?
I've watched the older Death Note movies and they were pretty good...why would I want to watch exactly the same thing again with only different actors? Sounds pointless.

Yo

I watched it last night. I'd read and heard a lot of bad things about it, but it wasn't as bad as I expected. Sadly, it wasn't very good imo either.

One of my big problems was

Overall, I'd give it a 6 out of 10. Despite my criticisms I did enjoy it somewhat, I just feel that it was a missed opportunity.
