I of course have the holy power of adblock but lately I've been getting ads on some sites if I click ANYTHING and I mean anything, if I click a search box, ad. If I close the ad and click on the search box again, ad. Two seconds after loading a page click on something, ad. Having looked at a few things I've found it can be stuff hidden in your Windows Apps folder...a folder you don't get permission for. What a load of bulls*** that is. If anyone is having the same issue have a look in there. I'm not sure what it is yet but there's 379MB of Candy Crush data there I couldn't delete and that s*** needs to go. I've went a step further though, making the computer grant me authority over every single folder, screw SYSTEM. This requires a crap ton of clicking though since it stops every time it lands on something that's being used, like your anti-virus software. |

Usually the only times I get ads when clicking on search boxes are when I'm on YIFY (the torrent site) or a porn site. Ads don't seem to assault me too much otherwise. But I just reinstalled Firefox without Adblock, so we'll see if the ads return with a vengeance. It was really only YouTube that annoyed me with that stuff, though. EDIT: I don't have a Windows Apps folder? Hmm. EDIT2: Oh, wait, I found that little b***. I got in. Don't see anything out of the ordinary. Edited by Pyrus, Aug 1 2017, 05:41 AM.

Sounds like malware. Download the free version of Malwarebytes and run it. Edited by Saiyan Paladin, Aug 1 2017, 06:47 PM.

There was a weird Twitter folder in mine. Literally everything else was a Windows folder and I don't even use Twitter. Ads definitely seem to be less annoying though they're still happening somewhat, I feel what I get now could just be stuff Adblock isn't updated to cover yet. I would gladly look at ads if they weren't so damn intrusive, especially the ones that play music, super loud music. Do they honestly think anyone isn't heading right for the close button... |
