Best Gaming Console?

Over the years there have been many gaming consoles. But which one is the best? My favorite games typically branch off of Nintendo. But the console that had many other games I loved and spawned lots and lots of games is the PS2. Honestly, I think that the PS2 is the greatest console we've had. There are tons of great games that I still go back to playing today.

What do you think is the best gaming console?

Agreed on the Playstation 2. It didn't have as many games as it's predecessor but the ones it did have had better graphics, voice acting and gameplay. It was almost the perfect console. Just too bad online play was in its infancy at the time.

Yeah, I also have fond memories of the PS2. It's probably the last console where I actually played proper games, rather than just FIFA, NBA & Pokemon.

I think the DS deserves a mention. You get all the capabilities of a Gameboy advance, with the added dual screen/touchpad feature.

I think the PS3 deserves a mention here. Great library, great console features, great online support, it had it all.

True... But it wasn't the Ps2.

Ps2 reigns supreme!

Piccolo: Just how many people have you sacrificed?!

Cell: Sacrifice? Hmph, rubbish! On the contrary, it is an honor to become a fraction of my power.

Yeah, in terms of pure influence, the PS2 might be unmatched. Sure, the Wii outsold (eventually) but what it brought to the table hasn't been retained, and attempts to recapture its glory have fallen flat on their face (Kinect and Move). Meanwhile, the 360 and PS3's success is a good indicator of the PS2's example being followed. Arguably you could point to the PS4 and Xbox One's (relative) success to even further that.

The Super Nintendo had so many classic games that still survive the test of time. Many of these games are still considered the best in their franchise (Super Mario World, Final Fantasy V, Zelda: A Link to the Past) and other games like Chrono Trigger, Super Metroid, Super Mario RPG and Donkey Kong Country (all 3) are incredibly solid and memorable.

I'd argue that the Super Nintendo Entertainment System left a bigger mark on gaming than the PS2.

Nintendo needs more love. Having a bunch of family/friends and playing Mario party, Mario kart, smash brothers etc... It's just too good Imo.

Nintendo is my favorite, but I don't think any console surpassed the PS2 as being the best. Imo.

Ps2 was probably the best solo player console. But as far as playing with friends one of the many Nintendo console is the best in my books.

The DS is a good shout, especially considering it spawned the 3DS aswell.

Fourth I think I'll go N64 for me. That or NES.

I just love Nintendo.
