The Lord of the Dark

A thread for the movie that set a mark on how to NOT adapt a videogame. If you like the SMB games and haven't seen this movie, try to watch this one, it's the better of the two by a clear and LARGE margin.

Despite how little the live-action flick tries to follow the games, it has earned some love over time. Not only due to Bob Hoskins being a pretty decent Mario (admittedly he was drunk half the time, though could you blame him?)...

...or because some of the special effects hold up really well, as you'd expect from practical effects...

...but because some people saw this during their childhoods, ignored how different it was from the games and loved it still (those poor souls).
