Figured with qualifiers already starting for this, might as well make a topic. Side note: it feels weird writing 2017/18. I remember playing manager games and getting that far into the future and now it's here. No Plymouth in the Premiership though, so I wasn't predicting the future. My Grandad is ecstatic because Rangers got knocked out of Europe already. That's pretty embarrassing on their part. |

Yeah, especially on the back of all that spending. I liked a lot of their signings, but I guess there's always a risk that the new additions don't settle quickly when you bring so many in. |

Great result for Liverpool. An expected win, but hopefully the dominating performance can give the team some confidence and momentum going forward. Good result for Tottenham too, grabbing a point at the Bernabeu. |

Juventus v Tottenham Basel v Manchester City Porto v Liverpool Sevilla v Manchester United Real Madrid v Paris Saint-Germain Shakhtar Donetsk v Roma Chelsea v Barcelona Bayern Munich v Besiktas Borussia Dortmund v Atalanta Nice v Lokomotov Moscow Copenhagen v Atlético Madrid Spartak Moscow v Athletic Bilbao AEK Athens v Dynamo Kyiv Celtic v Zenit St Petersburg Napoli v RB Leipzig Red Star Belgrade v CSKA Moscow Lyon v Villarreal Real Sociedad v Salzburg Partizan Belgrade v Viktoria Plzen Steaua Bucharest v Lazio Ludogorets v Milan Astana v Sporting Ostersunds v Arsenal Marseille v Braga Draws for the knockouts of both competitions. Liverpool avoided the Bayern/Real/Juventus trio, which is all I was hoping for. Porto could be tough (well, any draw could be tough with our defence), but we should be firm favourites. Zenit isn't an easy draw for Celtic, and my granddad's not too confident about their chances, but I think they've got a good chance at progressing. |

I'd be very surprised if Chelsea made it through but I'm expecting all the other British teams to succeed. I think Barcelona will win the CL and Arsenal will win the EL. |

I agree about Arsenal, but I think PSG will win the Champion's League. Outside shout: Man City. Easy route to the quarters and looking ridiculously strong atm. |

Great result for Liverpool in the first leg against Porto. I expected us to win, but not by that much. Nice to have the 2nd leg pretty much null and void, gives a chance to rest some players. Taking away even just one of the extra games could be a big help for the league form. Good result for Celtic too, getting the win at home while keeping a clean sheet. |

And how about Real Madrid beating PSG 3-1? Shows how poor the French League is. |

Real Madrid was at home. PSG getting the away goal will prove to be crucial, I think. |

Yeah, I wouldn't count out PSG just yet; they have too talented a team to go down so easily. That being said, I can't see Madrid (or rather, Ronaldo) not notching an away goal. Still, second leg should be fun. I'll probably opt for that over the Liverpool game, seeing as we're pretty much through already. |

Yeah, they did well to get a draw. I think the away goal hurts because it puts pressure on them to score at the Nou Camp, but they'd probably have to do that anyway as Barca aren't likely to go scoreless at home. But yeah, much better than I thought they'd do given recent form. |

I didn't watch the match, but why are people so impressed with Chelsea drawing 1-1 at home? They won the league unchallenged last season and didn't really lose any players of significance aside from Matic last summer. At home they should be winning against any side in Europe with at least 1 goal. I know Barcelona is in good form, but Chelsea is a top team in Europe, they should be expected to do better than they did last night. |

Yeah, but they're not doing as well this year. You judge a team on their recent performance, not what they did a year ago. |

I judge this Chelsea team on what they are normally capable of. Their recent form isn't that bad anyway, they've had some weird losses but they are generally playing well. |
