Guys that were too strong in their first introduction are suddenly handled fairly easily by the end of the season.

But he's basically treated as a child in this show. He's constantly arguing with the others over what to do, they're telling him to calm down and think rationally all the time, he's getting his a*** kicked in a lot of fights, and he's even taken prisoner for the last couple episodes until the finale. His mystical power is the only thing that kept him involved in fights against people that weren't common mooks. As far as how he compares to the rest of the team, he's shown to be inferior to all of them. If not in skill, in overall ability. Daredevil could beat him in a 1v1, Luke Cage is too durable, and Jessica Jones is quick as well as rivaling Cage in raw strength. I mentioned it in a separate topic before, but Cage and JJ were holding back way too much. It kind of cut the tension in fights, and made it annoying simultaneously. Holding back to not kill people isn't an issue for them, seen clearly when they're punching and kicking people several feet away with ease, so why they weren't ending fights in quick fashion was just dumb. A lot could have been avoided if they had put down the mooks and taken out Elektra. JJ was holding a freight elevator with two adult males by the cable with one arm in the finale, for a considerable amount of time–yet that kind of strength was rarely used in the fights. And what was up with Elektra? Her strength was all over the place. Daredevil got beat by her in their first encounter, which I can chalk up to surprise, but then he was able to fend her off at the restaurant while holding back. But she's able to take out Cage and JJ, and then fight all four Defenders simultaneously in the finale. Whaaat. She was smoking hot, don't get me wrong, but I couldn't get past all this nonsense. I thought Sigourney Weaver did a good job, but she was killed off out of the blue and then forgotten about. I think she was mentioned once more during the finale, but that was after a couple episodes of her being dead. I didn't really like that. I would like a second season, hopefully with Punisher in it. Spoiler: click to toggle Elektra's strength bothered me too. I remember her clearly being below Daredevil in Season 2 of Daredevil and I accepted that coming back as the Black Sky made her a little stronger. As you state, she went from beating Daredevil in their first encounter, to KOing the Defenders (although Luke was druged) with 1 hit each, to Daredevil just fending her off with defense while talking to her. There was some point in the show where she was literally just taking hit from Daredevil and barely reacting and at that is what I think what her true level of strength should be at. Above Daredevil and slightly below the power of the Iron Fist. I just finished the series and overall it was good. I'm gonna let this sink in and give a better response later but I'm not that disappointed even when you include my above complaints about inconsistency in strength.

I would guess it just tries to sequel bait it all or is it just super limp all round? Episode 2 spoilers I still find it hard to care about Iron Fist but he's improved a bit. That fight was awesome. It was cool that even without the Iron Fist he still held his own against Luke through skill alone, well kind of anyway. Now we need him to fight Daredevil though not sure what the excuse for that would be. Cool seeing things come together. Jessica and Matt need to bang, screw Karen she abandoned him and Luke stole his girl after ditching Jessica. Currently, I'm 100% invested in that. Also I had absolutely no idea Sigourney Weaver was going to be in this, hell yeah. She's already a pretty cool character. Edited by Steve, Aug 23 2017, 09:39 PM.

Actually, I don't even think I should try to explain, considering that you're only on episode 2, there is so much I can't even reference to right now. The ending is not horrible but does spend some time setting up future shows

I freaking LOVE Alexandra because Sigourney Weaver so obviously but it just offers no tension to me. I think the other members of The Hand should have been shown sooner to build them up a bit, it's hard to care about any of the new ones. And you can see where the Elektra thing is going as soon as she appears, Matt is going to bring her back somehow and everything is saved yay, probably has to sacrifice herself or something. Far too typical. What is up with The Hand also? They're randomly super strong warriors only until they're not. Like wtf with the black guy? Knocking LUKE CAGE about easily and then he's beaten off screen? How the hell did he toy with the bulletproof man when he's apparently just a regular human? What's up with Jessica in this also? Other than the intelligence side of things in combat she's been freaking useless, like she doesn't have super powers at all until something needs picked up. She's been wrecked by just regular dudes a couple of times even though she was pretty much tanking gunshots in her own season. I really hope The Hand is over and done with after this season or at least revamped somehow, like new and improved dudes show up. Even though they clearly are dangerous they just don't feel that dangerous.

What a waste of a cool character, why would Elektra kill someone who's basically her mother AND become bad? If she killed her and went back to Matt's side that would make sense but she's flat out evil now for some reason? Guess more will be explained next episode but meh. No surprises with Stick. Shame he had to die though. Are we going to learn what a Black Sky is yet 'cause so far all she's done is prove herself to be superhuman, doesn't seem as dramatically interesting as Alexandra implied. It's still more interesting than the Avengers fighting a faceless army but not by a huge amount sadly.

Luke Cage Spoiler This change in major villain reminds me of what happened in Luke Cage. The second Big Bad was a goof, whereas the first one was at least an interesting character. Steve, I'm sorry, but you're going to be so disappointed with Elektra's story in this.

Spoiler: click to toggle God dammit, Stick was such a cool character but his death was just super casual. Stick didn't even seem to give a s*, though I guess that's pretty Stick. Matt's emotional moment was nice but...poor send off. I think probably one of the worst things this season is that The Chaste plays no part in it, it would have been cool to see the counter group to The Hand a bit instead of just "Nah they're ALL dead" Would have been better to have at least one more episode showcasing The Chaste and then introduce The Hand by showing how effective and dangerous they are at killing them all. Off screening it is just dull. And yeah while the fights in episode 7 were cool, still no explanation for how they all throw Cage around easily, Granny G makes sense with her mystical abilities but the Japanese dude can kill a bear and that's basically all we know. Also God damn Granny G taking on BOTH people with superpowers? Holy crap she's nuts. I hope Iron Fist gets his other fist going soon in to his season. He never gets to use it enough and as a big one time only smash move it always seems to do f* all because the plot can't have him win constantly, which just makes the Iron Fist itself completely unexciting.

And stupid in many areas. Spoiler: click to toggle Why the f* was that Japanese dude just totally invincible? He was manhandling Luke half the time and being tossed through CONCRETE pillars then he falls God knows how many feet to be impaled on a metal rod and he's still alive? Wut. We STILL don't know what a Black Sky is either, is it seriously just a marginally superhuman person? Because that's pretty s*, why did Alexandra waste the last of the "substance" on that? She was strong for sure but there are much easier ways to make superhuman folk in this universe... Assuming they had a hand(ha) in making Jessica they could have just made an army with her powers, she's not far off Captain America even. I hope this lack of answers doesn't mean we're going to have The Hand be the enemy the whole time... But then, I'm pretty sure at least Gao isn't dead, Japanese dude probably isn't either. Especially if Daredevil survived because of course he did. Also have a hard time believing the other Defenders would be so broken up about him dying...they barely knew him. Just urgh. It's such a shame that 3 well written shows and 1 super meh show can come together and make something so unsatisfying.

He's had trouble with 2 people so far. Once when Danny hit him with the fist early on. And the other Sowande, you know one of the 5 people banished from K'un-Lun, who is super fast and able to slow the enemies pulse with precise hits. Ofc he was gonna give Luke some trouble...
