Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

(I assume a mod will move this so replying anyway)

Honestly I was crazy exited about the idea by as these series have went on I've increasingly cared less and less about The Hand.

They definitely need to make them feel more of a threat currently they feel super generic.
Kinda worried since this is only 8 episodes long right?

So many characters to juggle that The Hand might not get a decent amount of development.
Especially if Elektra is coming back.

I feel like it's going to devolve in to an Avengers movie where there's so many characters that there's only enough time for them all to quip mid action.
Hopefully the action is good at least, Iron Fist was...really meh in that department. Get back to awesomeness like the Daredevil hallway scene.

While the Avengers had 6 heroes to keep track off, The Defenders have 4. Elektra will likely have a pseudo-villainous role, so there's only Daredevil, Jessica Jones, Luke Cage and Iron Fist to focus on. Give the supporting characters less of a role and we'll have a good show on our hands. However, this show needs to eliminate The Hand as a organizational villain once and for all, it's been dragging on and The Iron Fist suffered tremendously by being the 4th show in a series of recurring The Hand themes, in this show's case a blatant copy from Daredevil.

I think the biggest issue with The Hand is that there's no Big Bad at the head of them to hype us up.

There's Gao who's cool but she never really feels threatening. Whereas in the movie MCU we know Thanos is coming and that he's going to mess s*** up. There's a sense of dread there this Netflix series lacks completely.
The Hand is just Gao, that ninja guy and a ton of other mostly faceless ninja goons that really don't seem like they're a threat.

Compared to Kilgrave and Fisk they're utterly meaningless villains, as well as The Punisher if you can consider him a villain.

That's not the only thing Iron Fist suffered from though :p

Iron Fist is pretty improved in the trailer itself. And talking about action, Jessica Jones didn't have that good action either. And the hero being superhuman doesn't need to cancel out the action, as Luke Cage showed,.

Yeah but with Iron Fist some classic martial arts action was like the whole draw point and there was nothing decent.

Jessica Jones was awesome for not being about her powers as was Luke Cage. Iron Fist was left without equal and every fight scene was a bore despite the cool, powerful magic hand.

The first couple of episodes of Daredevil had better action so I'm guess Iron Fist was super rushed.

There's no guess it was super rushed. Finn Jones only had a two week MA training before the series, and his scenes and fight choreography was told to him even as less as15 mins before the scene was shot. Its no wonder it became a bore.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

Despite having only watched Daredevil, which I really enjoy, I'm looking forward to this. It's a cool idea and they at least get a lot more time to work things out than the limited amount the Avengers movies get. I'll try and fit in the other three shows between now and the Defenders release date so I'm up to date.

I'd say you only really need to watch Daredevil and Jessica Jones, as long as you finish those and at least read a summary of the others you should be well enough in the know.

Luke Cage doesn't add a whole lot to the overall story and Iron Fist just isn't nearly as enjoyable. Jessica Jones is brilliant in it's own right though, awesome story and concept.

Flashy Thing!

Since the show is out, I'm just bumping this topic so we can discuss. I'm on episode 6 and should be done later this week. So far I'm happy with what I'm seeing.

Can we be pretty vigilant about spoilers? Not everyone is going to have the time to blast through it, I'm only on episode one right now.

Episode 1 spoilers
