It truly was a Shawshank redemption

For all things transfer-y. Rumours, official moves, desired moves etc.

Liverpool signed Salah for a club record £36 million (with possible extras). Big money. He's been pretty good at Roma, from what I hear, and didn't really get enough of a chance at Chelsea to be deemed a bust. Still, I'm always hesitant when we pay this much money for somebody, even if it's becoming standard.

So, Man Utd put in a £75 million bid for Romelu Lukaku... and then Chelsea match the bid. So, thats not happening for Man Utd now. We're also probably going to let Rooney go to Everton on a free. So the public courting of Lukaku will ruin our chance of landing Morata for anything less than £75 million, because Real Madrid now know we're willing to pay that much for a striker. This also will be about the third time in the last 5 years that Chelsea have hijacked one of our transfers. f***ing brilliant. Ed Woodward is a buffoon.

*sigh of relief*

Last night had me scared our transfer window might go to pot but the deal has been announced on the Man Utd website pending medical and personal terms: United agree transfer fee for Romelu Lukaku

I hate when Chelsea get involved with our transfer dealings because it normally never goes our way. Utd's pre-season tour starts Sunday so if they were going to sign him they had to do it now otherwise Chelsea would have had him.

Fortunately the greediness of Mino Raiola paid off because Chelsea bawked at his agents fee whereas Utd were fine with paying it. I'm not particularly comfortable with that the way he does his business but I guess if you're in the position to get people big names, you've got that kind of bargaining power. I think Paul Pogba might have played a small role in it too as they're on holiday together in LA at the moment.

Yeah, I might aswell go over some transfer news.

Jon Walters signed for Burnley from Stoke.
Everton made their sixth signing of the summer signing young talent Josh Bowler from QPR.
Huddersfield's summer signing bonanza continues as they sign danish defender Mathias Jorgensen from canish champions Copenhagen.
Leicester have made their third signing with Vicente Iborra joining from Sevilla.
Josh Tymon have signed a five-year deal with Stoke, signing from Hull City.
Swansea makes their first full transfer this summer signing Rogue Mesa from Las Palmas.
Championship club Wolves may have made the signing of the summer with Ruben Neves joining from Porto.

Rumors:

Romelu Lukaku is poised to sign for Man Utd in a whopping £75m move from Everton. A deal have been agreed between the clubs and it's now up to the player to finish up the deal.
Leicester are in for Kelechi Iheanacho after West Ham dropped out of the race for the young City player.
Wayne Rooney is on his way back to boyhood club Everton. The move seems imminent as he's willing to take a pay cut.
Antonio Rudiger is just about ready for Chelsea in a move from italian club Roma.
Everton is interested in signing Leicester winger Demarai Gray.

Everton has brought back Wayne Rooney to the club after the player spent 13 years in Man Utd.
Romelu Lukaku has moved from Everton to Man Utd in a move that will reach £90m.
Chelsea have signed german defender Antonio Rudiger from Roma.
James Husband switches out Middlesbrough with Norwich.

Rumors:

Man Utd is not done with shopping yet as they are looking to sign Tottenham's Eric Dier and Inter Milan's Ivan Perisic.
Crystal Palace is favorites to land Ruben Loftus-Reed on loan.
Marseille and Lille are both chasing Wilfried Bony who is out of favor at Man City.
Christian Benteke is another player Everton wants to sign.

Manchester City have signed Kyle Walker for £50 million. Big money and a slight overpay imo. That being said, he is a good player and there's always a premium on English players. Plus, it's always nice to fill your English quota with players you'll actually use, and City now have 3 who should start.

Everton are also rumoured to be hot on the tail of Sigurdsson. They've had a bid of £40 million turned down, but have been said to be willing to surpass that. Everton aren't messing around this offseason, that's for sure. I really like Sigurdsson and his game should age well, but I'd be hesitant spending that much money on someone who turns 28 at the beginning of this season.

Some new transfers since my last update, one already mentioned by Mitas:

Jack Cork signs for Burnley from Swansea.
French goalkeeper Steve Mandanda returns to Marseille after an unsuccessful year at Crystal Palace.
Man City has signed Kyle Walker from Tottenham for a whopping £50 million, which makes him the most expensive full-back in the history of football.
Man City has also signed brazilian youngster Douglas Luiz from Vasco De Gama.
Chelsea has finally signed Tiemoue Bakayoko from Monaco after weeks of speculation.
Tottenham have off-loaded centre-back Federico Fazio to AS Roma on a full transfer.
Watford has completed the signing of Chelsea midfielder Nathaniel Chalobah.

Rumors:

Jose Mourinho is open to the idea of renewing the contract of legendary swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic for another year.
Man Utd is still interested in signing Ivan Perisic from Inter, potentially sending Anthony Martial the opposite way.
Riccardo Pereira is still on Tottenham's wishlist but Porto is reluctant to sell.
Roma has had a bid of £20m for Leicester's Riyad Mahrez rejected. They'll likely continue to try signing the Algerian playmaker.

Transfers on the global market:

AC Milan is on the verge of a sensational signing of world class defender Leonardo Bonucci from Juventus.
AC Milan is also close to signing Lucas Biglia from Lazio.
Bayern Münich has made a deal with Real Madrid to take James Rodriguez on a two-year loan.
Real Madrid has signed youngster Dani Ceballos from Real Betis for a reported £15m.

Chelsea has sold Juan Cuadrado to Juventus on a full transfer after the player had spent two seasons on loan in the italian club. They have also sold midfielder Christian Atsu to Newcastle. John Terry was also released and is looking for a new club, with suitors in both the Premier League and the Championship.

Juve actually own Cuadrado now?

Holy s***. PSG have reportedly made an attempt to absolutely smash the record transfer fee with a £195 million bid for Neymar. It hasn't been accepted yet, but the fact that it's even been offered is just insane.

And on top of that, Neymar seems keen on the transfer too.

I can see two good reasons for this:

1. They want to live in one of the world's most cultivated cities; Paris.
2. They want to see that bankroll multiply.

Yeah. I'd add a third reason: I don't think he's keen on being third banana to Messi and Suarez. At PSG he gets to be the main man.

Some of the biggest transfers since last time:

Alvaro Morata signs for Chelsea in a deal that can be worth £70m.
Crystal Palace signs Jairo Riedewald from Ajax.
Andy Robertson leaves Hull for Anfield and Liverpool.
Benjamin Mendy becomes the most expensive defender in history signing for Man City from Monaco for around £50m.
Man City has also signed Danilo from Real Madrid.
Jacob Murphy from Norwich and former Sunderland and Liverpool player Javier Manquillo from Atletico Madrid.
West Ham has poached for former Man Utd forward Javier Hernandez from Bayer Leverkusen for £16m. They have also signed Marko Arnautovic from Stoke.
Man Utd has made their 3rd big signing this summer with Nemanja Matic joining from rivals Chelsea for £40m.

Rumors:

Zlatan Ibrahimovic could still stay in Man Utd depending on how quickly he heals from his ACL injury.
Chelsea apparently wants to sign former Man Utd midfielder Danny Drinkwater from Leicester.
An exit from Liverpool to Barcelona is still on the cards for Philippe Coutinho, but manager Jürgen Klopp is adamant about keeping the talented brazilian at the squad.
Demarai Gray wants a transfer away from Leicester with a number of clubs interested, including Everton and Borussia Dortmund.
The summer saga of Diego Costa has yet to reach a conclusion with the brazilian-spaniard only wanting to leave for Atletico Madrid. It's likely to happen though, with Costa's replacement Alvaro Morata already at the club.

Neymar Jr's £198m transfer to PSG is about to happen. Expect announcement tonight or tomorrow.

So much lost respect for Neymar for this, what a knob. I have no respect for PSG to begin with so I don't lose any there.

Do you guys think he will go from loved to hated by Barcelona, both club and fans?

I guess this should go here rather than the 2017/18 season topic, but Liverpool and Barcelona are reportedly close to a £109 million deal for Coutinho. Nothing official, but with the length of the interest it surely has to be a matter of 'when' and not 'if'. Assuming the real figure will be at least the reported figure or more, I'd take that. Coutinho is an awesome player and definitely our best, but that's a lot of money and I feel like Klopp's system is engineered to be able to sustain a loss like that with the goals and assists being spread amongst the team.

The money should hopefully see us bring in Van Dijk (if we're allowed in the wake of the tapping up) and someone else to couple with Salah in an effort to further bolster our attack.
