I'm excited about Freeza's return

I know this is a controversial opinion but we might actually see something new this time.

I enjoyed resurrection F for what is was but it essentially amounted to what we've seen before.

Z warriors stall Freeza.

Goku arrives, Freeza is winning at first and then is beaten.

Vegeta got to smack Freeza around but only a weakened version, Goku got the main fight.

Even the stamina drain was seen before.

This time around Freeza has to team up with the saiyans, that could be fun.

Also both Goku and Vegeta are far stronger than he is, maybe 17 and Gohan are too.

He'll meet more super saiyans and his alternative self.

Cold e really fun.

I'm excited for all the wrong reasons. Seeing people sperg out about Freeza's return is cathartic, lol.

If he hadn't returned already in Super, I'd be excited. Maybe he got resurrected and spent a year or so training in secret, just to be revealed as they desperately scouring the Universe for a tenth participant. Having him resurrected, killed and then brought back again so soon just leaves a really sour taste in my mouth.

All I want to see from this is Frieza turning on everyone.

Freeza turning on everyone would be crap because the characters and audience already expect it. If you're gonna bring him back, actually do something with it. Having him predictably screw his team over mid-tournament would be a waste.

I agree but his initial return was kinda meh and Resurrection F inconsequential.

Now this move makes F consequential by Freeza being stronger ready for this tournament and hopefully we'll see something more than him defeated by Goku as he's allying with him.

Having Freeza as the recurring villain is fine. I mean comics do it all the time with characters like The Joker, Lex Luthor and Norman Osbourne. Why can't Freeza be a catalyst for a new villain or something like that or he just keeps making a nuisance of himself once the tournament is done?

All we've seen in his return is him jokingly defeated by base Goku in GT and Gohan in Fusion Reborn and he was only a minor threat in Resurrection F to be honest.

I don't see what the problem with Frieza being a recurring villain either. He makes things more dark and fun. I for one loved resurrection f. Not the arc but the movie was awesome

If he's going to be a recurring villain, he needs character development. Without that, he's simply an unrelatable mook that the audience won't care about one way or the other. And no, killing Piccolo yet again will do nothing.

This is a golden opportunity (no pun intended) to give him some kind of purpose.

Recurring villains don't generally die uselessly every time they show up. That's the problem. If Freeza amounted to anything in his revivals, it'd be better. He just lacks gravitaw when he comes back.

What kind of development would he get though? Him having even a little change of heart would just be weird and out of character. It's too unbelievable. I'd rather see the same evil maniacal Frieza. There isn't much room for lightheartedness with a guy like frieza

He doesn't need to turn good, but there has to be some reason for his recurrence. Instead of wanting to conquer the universe and sell planets, etc., he could see the potential in Frost and try his hand at being a mentor, even if it's still for evil intentions. That way he at least has something to do beyond floating around like an annoying fly that's going to get killed over and over anyway. Or he could begin to wonder what his purpose is in life (I know, too deep for AT/Toei), because obviously conquering the universe has not been working out for him.

I don't know, but he can't just come in, fight, then get killed again. It would be predictable and who would even care? Probably nobody.

The reason for his recurrence is that he's the only other guy they can get to protect the universe. It's the irony that makes it exciting imo

And he only has 24 hours so it's not like he's going to be able to do much after

That's the thing. If he has something of an epiphany during the tournament, his requirement to go back to Hell might be lifted.

"I am the bone of my sword."

There's just no point in bringing him back, he doesn't even qualify as a plot device now. There was absolutely zero reason to take Majin Boo out and there dozens of people who are better fit than Freeza. I don't care how "bad" he is, just get Yamcha in. He might be pathetic but at least there's a 0% chance of him stabbing everyone in the back. Get the kids, chuck Boo in the ROSAT and wake him up. Go to the city, find a homeless man and give him a half eaten donut and tell him to fight in your tournament. Ask your furry dog king to fight. Have the Nimbus fight. In fact, Maron, its time for you to you to take care of yourself, fight that wolf!

It feels almost like Toei is trying to make up for the fiasco that was the Resurrection F. Saga or something.
