Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2017/05/22/manchester-arena-evacuated-reports-gunshots-explosion/

At least 22 killed and 59 injured so far. Apparently as bad as the 2005 bombings.

At a concert with children around, absolutely shocking. Madness that people can praise this, how can you be that f***ed and not realize you're the a***** in the equation.

A despicable action. These attacks need to be condemned, but there's a larger issue at hand; The media. Journalists and papers all over the world shed light on an attack like this and 80% of the time it's for own personal gain. The best thing to do is to not pull labels on terrorist attacks or give them a name, because that's what these people want. Media contribute to terrorism this way.

I remember seeing a programme on the BBC about the person who carried out the attack on the Houses of Parliament not too long ago. I get being interested in who the person is/was and their story, but giving them an hour long spot on TV dedicated to them almost glorifies it. It shows potential attackers that they'll get attention and television time if they carry out something similar. The media should just name the attacker and leave it at that.

EDIT this was more in reference to Emmeth's post

I wonder if that's the point in them doing it.

ISIS are generally characterized as these primitive evil fools that live in caves bashing rocks together but maybe they're being smart and attempting to create a radicalized population without having to send anyone over?

All these attacks do is make people turn on Muslims and whatnot and all that's going to do is make more and more of them become radicalized.

Apparently a Mosque has been burned down in response by some stupid c*** who're ultimately just going to make everything worse but think they're fully justified.

Such a stupid circle of hatred. Well every circle of hatred is stupid but still.

EDIT I don't think they should even bother naming them, all it does is confirm people's anger.
Every time you get: "I bet it was a Muslim, OH LOOK IT WAS, and people say they aren't evil!"

Naming them just adds to it, though people will assume anyway.

That's exactly what they're doing. This is just based on my memory of recent attacks, but I'm pretty sure most, if not all, of the recent suicide attacks in Europe have been by 'homegrown' terrorists. They capitalised on the hate against Muslim people created by previous terrorist attacks, radicalise those who feel ostracised by the societies they live in, which then creates more terrorism, more hate, and the cycle continues.

It's tragic that those outraged people who take things into their own hands by attacking Muslim people, burning mosques, and telling them that they don't belong here contribute almost as much to the situation as the terrorists themselves. If they really wanted to combat terrorism, then they should be working towards unity amongst society. That way there would be nobody to radicalise. Unfortunately, those people are too narrow minded to see it that way.

Yep, I've tried to say that to a few people about it and there's the usual "Liberal cuck!" response because screw using your brain to think about it, all Muslims are clearly evil and the ones that extend their homes to people in need are just after attention and nothing more...everyone else is just being nice.

It's amazing how vile these people can be while thinking everyone else is the problem, they spew out this disgusting muck and think they're clean as sunshine.

I wonder how this is all going to end, with Trump in office and consistent-ish attacks surely things are going to get far more serious when it comes to military action.

The media have also done the thing that always annoys me: reported that ISIS have taken responsibility for the attack. Of course they have. They'll do that whether they had a hand in it or not because it only benefits them. All the media need to do is say it was a terrorist attack, no need to give them attention.

I heard over £600,000 has been raised for the families of the victims. Seems for every one evil person there's hundreds of good people.

Yeah that's something at least.

It's a damn shame that Muslims aren't allowed to help but if they don't help people say they don't care.

Apparently the terror level is critical and troops have been deployed to be ready for another attack.
Can't help but feel like that's just lip service, what are they really going to do? If someone has a bomb vest on there's little chance of stopping them before they use it.
I guess making people feel safer is good at least.

And they still welcome all from syria and isil countries

The refugees need to be extremely analyzed before they are invited within europe.

Also the security level of such event should be also increased

I wonder how long the governments will wait till the mideast destroys europe from within

There's a bigger problem at play though, this guy wasn't even a refugee he was actually born in Manchester.

Apparently he went to Libya a few times and just recently before the bombing.

I wonder if nothing else if we can just attempt to ban people from going there, of course that's pretty hard to enforce because if you can't get a plane to countries with ties to ISIS get one somewhere else and travel but still, monitoring where and why people go to these countries is something at least. A lot of people seem to jump ship and they're completely allowed to come back, then this happens.

Pointer the people who actually go and do such extreme acts are most often born and raised in Europe. It's not the outsiders. Look it up.

Yeah because those countries are war zones. Personally I think any decent society should help victims of war, that's just me though.

Do you honestly think they don't do this already? This is like Trump's stupid extreme vetting nonsense, it assumes that the current position is people just waltzing in when it is nothing of the sort.

There was a fair bit there. The actual attack happened outside of where the concert was taking place. It's kind of hard to explain because you have to know the layout of the arena but the place the bomb was left is a public walkway, not much you can do about that. That being said security will probably be beefed up for the next while but there's only so much you can do.

For the record, this guy was born and raised in Manchester. Same with a lot of other terrorist attacks as well. Which doesn't fit the narrative of evil refugees.

But the attacker being born and raised here, if anything, would back up the point that the Middle East is 'destroying Europe from the inside'. Which I guess is technically what they are trying to do, by radicalising people born and raised in the countries where they target attacks, or other countries in the vicinity. Ditto with radicalising refugees.

However, I disagree with Geralt's sentiments, which I read as 'don't let any people from the Middle East enter Europe (or the West in general) because they'll destroy us'. Obviously if you go via numbers, many, many more Middle Eastern people contribute positively to the Western countries they reside in than those who do so negatively, and to paint those people with the same brush just because they share an ethnicity is clearly wrong.

I'm not sure there is an answer though. I feel for the immediate future at least, if not further, a unified front between everyone in the country is going to be hard to achieve. Radicalisation risks are already feeling ostracised by a society that is still ostracising them because of previous attacks, which is semi-excusable, and plain xenophobia, which is not. Even if that were to improve, it would take decades.

Stronger vetting is clearly needed. The attacker was known to police as a potential risk for radicalisation and terrorist activities and was allowed to go to a country known for it's ISIL affiliations, as well as Turkey which is a known route into Syria, and then return. Maybe there needs to be a zero tolerance on cases like that, although it's obviously hard to toe the line between necessary action and discrimination.
