Which game (or franchise) do you think you've spent the most hours playing?

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

I think this came up somewhere else, but thought it might make a good topic. For me, the franchise is easily Pokemon. The hard part would be pinpointing which version. I logged a bunch of hours playing Sapphire as a kid. Me and my friends would play it at school most days, and then I'd train Pokemon at home. However, I've barely played it at all since newer version were released. I still think that it probably takes the crown, but with all my (failed) Nuzlocking over the last few years, I think Platinum runs it close.

The only non-Pokemon franchise that has a claim is NBA 2K. I've played the franchise mode a bunch on various titles. However, with a new game released each year and no reason to go back to old ones, I doubt I've played a single title as much as I have on various Pokemon games.

284 hours on Hearts of Iron 4. 111 hours on Europa Universalis 3. 181 on Total War Warhammer and 156 on Total War Attila. I do have to wonder what actually gets me to spend such an incredible amount of time on these types of games, and upon looking at a few different games I think I have an idea.

Namely I enjoy the sort of story I weave with them. And in Hearts of Iron it actually does I think a pretty good job with that with you playing an entire country in a way. The decisions made and the focuses researched there don't necessarily benefit the current administration (my first brush with this was playing the British Raj which would later undergo a communist revolution and fight for the Comintern in ww2 against the Japanese. Hell I usually spend a not inconsiderable amount of time after what I consider to be the end of the game thinking about how the world may have been somehow changed from how the game went. IT's fun to play Brittanny spreading out an empire while trying to stay on France's good side, possibly even stabbing them in the back to so Burgundy and I can divide the country. Or perhaps follow the story of Dag as he carves out a seaside Geatian Empire during the Fall of Rome, and his son's attempts to keep it and the hegemony in Europe when the Huns invade while the Sassanids look on hungrily at Europe. I think those stories that form during gameplay are what keep me there so long.

Greetings. I will be your waifu this season.

Oh without a doubt Fallout, Pokémon a distant second.

I know I've definitely spent around 700 hours on New Vegas and probably about the same on Fallout 3.

I'm a sucker for open world games that give you a lot of options, I always get to a certain point and go "f*** it, let's start again and do other stuff"

Even though I'd put that much time in to New Vegas on PS3 I'd still never got the Platinum trophy, only got it when Fallout 4 was due out. That's how much it made me go and do other things.

Easily Pokémon Silver otherwise, can't count how many times I must have replayed it.

Definitely Pokemon. As for which version, I'm going to say it's Gold since that came out right around the point in my life where I was old enough to grasp the game as a whole and I had plenty of time to actually play it (whereas Red came out when I was too young, and I didn't really care for the versions after Ruby). I played that game all the damn time, even when it was charging.

Second would likely be Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. All day, all night, non-stop – when I wasn't raging, of course. Black Ops 1 and Modern Warfare 3 I played a lot (the latter more than the former), but I don't think to the extent I was on Modern Warfare 2.

Hmm...

Undoubtebly the Battlefield series is where I've dumped most of my time. I didn't even know I clocked in 241 hours on BF3 alone lol.

Now I'm playing Battlefield One and loving it.

Uh... second would probably be Oblivion, with Skyrim coming right after that. Dumped atleast 96 hours on Oblivion, and close to 60 on Skyrim.

its not even close, pokemon. i would spend entire days as a kid walking around in pokemon red with no clue where i was going just battling anything and anyone until i luckily stumbled into the right direction

next is probably chrono trigger/chrono cross if i can add those both together. play chrono trigger atleast once a year if not twice and its usually a 30-40 hour playthrough if i take my time and do all the extra stuff.

Absolutely no doubt in my mind I've spent the most time on Football Manager. Just between the games on Steam I've spent 4138 hours, and that starts with 2010. I've played the games since the beginning (2005) and I'm sure I spent upwards of 2000 hours on FM08 alone.

As for other games I've probably clocked 500 hours on numerous Ocarina of Time playthroughs and other Zelda games may have that at almost 3000 hours, probably.

Also worth mentioning I've spent 759 hours on Payday 2 and probably more than that on World of Warcraft.

Probably Fire Emblem. Has to be closely followed by Zelda and Pokemon though. I've always tended to replay Fire Emblem games over and over more than any other game series, especially Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn.
