What the title says: do you have any goals in life, and if so, what are they?

Get a federal law enforcement job, be financially stable, find a nice lady, have a family, enjoy life.

I only plan 5 years out. Right now the goal is to pay off all the debt and put a 1/3 down payment on a house.

Hopefully I can get a new job before then.

Pay off my debts. Get into my own place under nobody else's rules. Go to school for... something. Have a better financial situation.

My main goal in life is to find happiness. Be that via a career path, a relationship, a 'calling' (whatever that would be), or general peace of mind, I'd just like to be happy more often than I'm not. Just to actually enjoy life and living.

A secondary goal, which doubles as both a short term and long term one, is writing. Short term, I'd like to actually start writing regularly again. Long term, I'd like to finish a novel. Not necessarily for sale, just to have written a complete story from start to finish. Something tangible I can point to and say 'I did that'.

What's stopping you from writing now? I used to underestimate the amount of work it takes to write a novel but after writing lots of papers for school and literally waiting years for an author to put out a book, I realize that it takes some real work to make a good book.

It's complicated. I struggle with depression and other stuff, and that's warped my relationship with writing (among other things). I used to have the same thing with reading, where even though I enjoyed it I couldn't find the motivation to do it, and the longer I didn't do it the more pressure I put on myself to do it, or to feel bad for not doing it etc. But I read everyday now, so I know I can get over it. It's just about getting back into the routine and taking that internal pressure away from it.
