The National Football Museum Hall Of Fame, supported by The PFA, will see 5 new players, as voted for by the Hall Of Fame selection panel and members of the Hall Of Fame, inducted on the evening. Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard will take his place, alongside fellow England centurion and Chelsea record-breaker Frank Lampard. Arsenal double-winner Bob Wilson will be inducted, as will West Ham's two-time FA Cup-winning captain Billy Bonds. The late Gary Speed will be honoured for his commitment to the game during a record-breaking career in top-flight football.

In reading the news section fo the west ham website as I do most mornings, I was delighted in seeing that Billy Bonds has been inducted into the Hall of Fame. Personally I have no issues with any of the five players selected, although maybe it should've happened a little sooner. Anyone else have any opinions? Maybe inductees for next year?

Novacane for the pain

Surprised Billy Bonds wasn't in there already. Gerrard and Lampard are only in now because I think you have to be retired to be inducted.

I haven't actually looked through the list before, it's hard to argue with it really. Can't think of too many players off the top of my head who should be on there who aren't. Maybe Andy Cole? He is the third highest scorer in Premier League history, was pivotal in handing Utd the Treble in 99. I'd also argue that Treble winning Utd team and Arsenal's Invincibles might deserve to be in the team category, though Utd already have two team entries as it is so I get why they'd be hesitant.

It truly was a Shawshank redemption

I didn't even know there was a football hall of fame. Interesting read. One name that as a Liverpool fan I feel is missing: Joe Fagan. Won the league, European Cup and League Cup in his first season as manager, after being a prominent member of staff for Bill Shankly & Bob Paisley (both in the HOF). I imagine he's been omitted because he followed those two greats (and possibly because he only had two seasons as manager), but Liverpool hadn't won a European Cup in the two seasons prior to his hiring. I feel he's a deserving name.

"Course. Doing better next time. That's what life is."
